I was born in Macclesfield in January 1979; my parents are called Sandra and Trevor, and my sisters are called Debbie and Rachael.

I began Warwick Road County Primary School in 1984 at the age of 5.

When I was 9, I started judo classes, which I continued until the age of 18. I got up to Brown Belt (one below Black) and won various competitions, including the Cheshire County Championships 4 times.

I began Henbury High School in 1990 at the age of 11. I hated school, but I was a good student. I left high school in 1995, with 9 GCSE's, all A-C grades.

In 1995, at the age of 16, I began my A Levels at Macclesfield College, which I really enjoyed, and I became a more confident and outgoing person. I left college in 1997 with 4 A Levels (Media Studies, Maths, English, and General Studies,) and 2 B-TEC's (Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing) and the equivalent to an AS Level in French.

I joined the Territorial Army (Cheshire Regiment) in 1996, at the age of 17; I really enjoyed it, even though I struggled with the fitness side of it, I worked hard and did well. I stayed in the TA for a year, until I left for university.

In 1997, at the age of 18, I began my degree in Philosophy and Applied Social Studies at Keele University, which I loved. I joined the Jiu Jitsu club, in which I got up to Light Blue Belt (two below Black). In 2000, I graduated from university with a 2:1, which I was pleased with.

After university, I had various jobs, while I saved up to on a 6-month trip around Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Thailand, with my (then) boyfriend, Mel. That was a great experience; highlights included scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, climbing Ayres Rock, and snowboarding.

Unfortunately in 2002, I developed a bladder problem (Interstitial Cystitis), which kept me out of work for a while due to the pain. but I am learning to live with it.

In 2003, I began a PGCCE course at Nottingham University, after which I got a job teaching A-Levels in Philosophy and Sociology at Loughborough College, which is great. That's where I'm up to now.
