What are we doing in class?
[Yahooligans!]
This week, returning orchestra students will review and practice tuning this week so that every one can tune their instrument themselves and we can spend more time on music. We will also be working on a Jazz tune and some Bach chorales (to practice intonation, balance, and blend.)
Beginning orchestra students will learn about the parts of their instrument, and proper care and maintenence.

Band will also be working on balance and blend as many students switch to new instruments. We will also devote time to recovering skills lost over the summer do to non-use! These skills should return quickly, and we will soon move on to concert music and learning new terms, techniques, and music history.
Strategies For Success
Practice, Practice, Practice!!!

The key to improvement on any instrument is to practice. Practicing not only hones your skills, it also breeds familiarity with your instrument, making you comfortable with its nuances and peculiarities. Frequent practice also helps you develop tone quality and intonation, helping you play in tune on your particular instrument.
