I have devoted much of my time in the past two and a half years to assisting and educating students with disabilities. This has been the most challenging and rewarding experience for me. Devoting time to students with special needs and observing their growth in knowledge has only solidified my need to become an educator. While assisting these students, I have learned much about myself. Patience and devotion are just two of the attributes my students have taught me. Assisting these young people on a daily basis has proven extremely rewarding for me. A small gain that has been fought for or a simple smile is more rewarding than one could ever imagine. I believe in my students and their abilities to develop into fine adults. This experience has strengthened by belief that students of all abilities have room for growth as successful members of society. Advocating for each students needs has become a passion and lifelong goal for me.
I chose the UW-La Crosse Teacher Education Program due to the high standards and quality of education provided. Well-rounded hands on experiences provided by this program produce exceptional teachers. I also strongly believe in the 15 program standards of the UW-La Crosse Teacher Education Program. I feel these standards prove that this program is committed to producing quality teachers who are prepared to be successful educators.
As a potential candidate for the Teacher Education Program, I feel I embrace many qualities to excel as an educator. I truly believe that children are the most important members of society. Without well-educated children, there are no informed decision-makers of tomorrow. I am motivated to see that each student develops their mind and envisions the possibilities of the future. I feel I have the ability to facilitate a learning environment that is both enriching and enjoyable. I strive to look at topics from different vantage points and improve upon how I present them. I am always in search of knowledge and hope to pass on this love to my students. Learning is a lifelong activity that does not stop in the classroom. I am devoted to enriching the lives of students. I hope to do this through becoming a teacher. I am optimistic that I will have a life long effect on each student I encounter. I feel I have the intelligence, dedication, and compassion to be an excellent educator. I am very excited to further my skills as an educator in the UW- La Crosse Teacher Education Program.
