Animal Groups Webquest

Webquest designed by Karen Jones
Join me on an animal hunt!  We will search the web for animals to classify into the six animal groups:  Reptiles,  Mammals, Birds, Amphibians, Fish, and Insects.

Classification is the arrangement of objects, and it makes things easy to find, identify, talk about, and study.  We classify animals on the basis of certain characteristics they have in common.

Make an Animal Encyclopedia

1.  Stack four sheets of construction paper and hold the pages vertically in front of you.  Slide the top sheet upward approximately one inch; then repeat the process with the second sheet.  Next fold the paper thickness forward to create eight graduated layers or pages.  Staple close to the fold.  Write the title "(Your name)'s Animal Encyclopedia" on the front cover.
2. Your assignment is to record facts about each animal group into your encyclopedia booklet.  Label each page with the name of an animal group.  Work in your assigned groups of two or three and explore the links on the next page while filling out your booklets.  You will write at least three interesting facts and draw pictures for each animal group.
