Isaiah 66:2, Isaiah 57:14-21

Isaiah 66:2   This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

  1. What is a humble spirit?(A humble spirit has a proper understanding of who God is and who we are in relation to Him.)

  2. What is a contrite spirit?(A contrite spirit has an acute awareness of its failings. This awareness is accompanied by deep distress over them and gratitude that there is a place of refuge in the mercy and grace of God.)

  3. What does it mean to tremble at God's word?(Take God seriously, believe He is who He says He is.)

    Isaiah 57:14-21

  4. If the President or Queen were coming to visit you, what repair jobs or preparations would you do?

  5. What does God promise in this passage (v 15, 18, 19)?

  6. What do the people need to do first?

  7. What "obstacles" did the people need to clear out of the way first? What "road" needed building up (v 14)?

  8. Read (v 20 - 21). If the wicked are like the tossing sea, how would you picture those at peace with God?
