- What is the difference between the hope of a Christian and wishful thinking?
- Has there ever been a time in your life where you felt close to losing hope? What led you to feel overwhelmed? Despair comes when we believe what our eyes tell us: that when difficult circumstances play their hand, the game is over.
- How do you work through difficult circumstances? What does holding fast to hope mean? Holding fast to hope means being unwilling to let circumstances have the last word.
- What does this statement mean to you? "Despair says circumstances tell us what is true about God, hope says God tells us what is true about circumstances."
- How can we strengthen our hope? Close your eyes to the persuasive pull of circumstances. Quit believing that life stops when pain starts. Remember the goodness of God (hang on to God’s promises). Fix your eyes on heaven.
