Trust Lead

2 Sam 22:3     The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge ...

Our son and his wife called goodnight and turned to walk off the porch. I could hear their laughter and bantering teasing as they stepped down to the walk and started, almost at a run, toward the car. Their clasped hands, swinging between them, were more than an indication of their love. Without Mary Anns hand Dave, who had been born blind, would have needed his cane to find his way.

I watched them for a minute. I kept thinking of the happy confidence Dave had shown running beside Mary Ann. What utter faith in her he must have, I thought. What complete trust in her ability and willingness to lead him so that he would not trip or fall.

Standing there in the doorway I wondered if my life reflected that king of faith and trust in God. Was I willing to let Him lead me and to follow cheerfully and confidently in the way He chose for me? Or did I, in the darkness of my limited knowledge and understanding, try to find my own way and, in my stubbornness, stumble and fall?

I closed the door, promising myself that I would learn from Dave. I would put my hand in Gods and follow where He leads.

Grant me the faith to follow Thee, O God, trusting every step of the way.
