Romans 12:21     Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I stopped at a traffic light on my way to buy a birthday present for a friend. The very instant the light turned green, a loud honk came from the car behind me. "Well, give me a chance, buddy," I muttered angrily, looking in my rearview mirror at a scowling man.

I was determined to get even with him. Sneaking my car up behind his at the next light, I waited with a delicious feeling of anticipation. Blink went the light! Honk went my horn! Jump went the man! Soon after I pulled into the parking lot of the store, but I didn�t get out of the car. I just sat there. My conscience was troubling me.

For the rest of the day I felt uneasy and disheartened. It�s amazing, if you�ve known even a little of God�s grace, how instantly you dislike yourself when you do something mean-spirited.

Don�t honk, I tell myself now. Pray, instead, for those who wrong me.

O Lord, give me control over my temper. Let me use its wasteful energy for something positive.
