Jesus Heals the Bleeding Woman Study
Mark 5:21-43

  1. What would you do if the phone rang, the doorbell chimed, your child called for help, and the oven alarm went off all at the same time?

  2. Of all the people pressing for Jesus' attention, two get through to him in this story, why? Why is the crowd following Jesus?

  3. The sick woman's illness made her ritually unclean and thus unable to have contact with other people. What do you think it took for her to touch Jesus? What gave her the courage to touch Jesus' clothes?

  4. In verse 31 why are the disciples so surprised at Jesus' question?

  5. Why do you think Jesus makes the sick woman reveal herself?

  6. What would have caused the woman's fearful reaction in verse 33?

  7. When do you remember being most desparate for God's help? How did Jesus "touch" you?

  8. The sick woman spent all her money and a great deal of effort to find a solution to her problem. How likely are you to try every other option before you take your problem to God?

  9. Jairus fell at Jesus' feet and begged him to heal his daughter. How is this situation similiar to the sick woman? Different?

  10. After Jesus healed Jairus' daughter why did he give orders not to let anyone know?

  11. What obstacles do you (or did you) need to "push through" to bring yourself in contact with the healing power of Jesus?
    a. anger towards those who hurt me,
    b. fear of rejection,
    c. the pain of broken trust,
    d. feelings of guilt,
    e. doubts that I can really be healed,
    f. the stigma of a shameful identity

  12. The sick woman reached out in faith and touched Jesus - and He stopped. The touch of one anonymous woman in a crowd halted the Lord of Glory. All of us need to "touch" Christ for some reason or other. How can we touch Christ? Not just seek, not just come close, but actually touch?
