Eph 4:17-32, Col 3:1-15
- What is the best piece of clothing you have had for years and can't seem to discard? Why is it so hard to discard?
- How does Paul describe the "old self"? The "new self"?
- How do you go about putting off your "old self" and putting on your "new self"?
- Read Col 3:1-15. How are we to grow spiritually (v 1-4)? How does this contrast with things that don't lead to growth (v 5-10)?
- How much contrast is there between earthly clothes (v 5-11) & God's clothes (v 12-17)?
- We all get used to "earthly nature" or old self clothing. Which aspect feels like a comfortable T shirt? Why is it so hard to remove?
- What does all this putting off and putting on have to do with grieving the Holy Spirit?
- Of the 9 things in the article (forgetting God, grumbling, disobedience, disbelief(lack of trust), pride, self-effort, resistance to the Spirit, hypocrisy & legalism) which is hardest for you to put off?
- What piece of Christ's wardrobe would you most like to replace it? ((v 12)compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness & patience)
