| On Friday we got up early and took Ralph's parents to the airport. We travelled to Volterra while Ralph and Laurie started the long journey back to the US. Volterra had fantastic views of the surrounding valleys, many ruins from Etruscan and Roman times as well as alabaster shops. After lunch we drove to San Gimignano, which is famous for its' towers. It rained on us there and we were soaking wet when we got the to the car. We drove back to the house and had dinner. On Saturday, we left the house for good and made one last stop, at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, before we went to the airport. The Tower buildings next to it were cool, but the area around it was one of the worst tourist-trap areas we have seen in Europe. Nonetheless, it was a great trip. We enjoyed spending time with Ralph's parents and found Italy to be beautiful with delicious food and friendly people. Ciao. |
