| On Sunday we found a little hill town, Monterchi, that had a small disappointing open air market but did have an open grocery store. We then drove to the chocolate festival in Perugia. On the way we saw a man walking down a country road walking or actually shooing his ducks as he walked to keep them moving and off the road. It was a peculiar sight. It was crowded and cold at the chocolate festival and Ralph's Dad had to buy a fancy new Italian coat (that we later learned was actually made in the US, go figure). Nonetheless, Perugia was a beautiful city. We saw a fun marching band and drank thick hot chocolate. On Monday, we visited a bakery in Mercatale and then headed to beautiful Cortona (bottom section). In Cortona, we had a fantastic lunch and gelato (Italian ice cream). |
