We made our way to this boat docked in Rotterdam for a ride to Kinderdijk.  The boat ride was a little underwhelming, as the best views of the city and harbor are located in the opposite direction of where we traveled.  However, the time together was enjoyable and provided an opportunity to display a little Clemson pride.  Ralph's brother, Kevin (right) and Deborah were also with us.  The picture of them at right is actually from Paris (via Laurie's camera) when they were both jet-lag recovered!  Plus, Kevin would not stoop to being photgraphed with the "tiger rag".

Euromast, a  185 meter tall observation tower in Rotterdam was our final destination for the day.  It also provided a restaurant with a nice view of the city and interesting sandwiches.  In addition to the observation deck there was a ride up to the top of the tower in a circular pod.  The song "Major Tom" was played during the lift ride.

Our main objective for the day was Kinderdijk, home to 19 polder mills (whose job it was to drain water and keep areas of land dry) built around 1740.  As you can see from the pictures we were having some typical Dutch spring weather - cool, windy, and almost raining.
