| One of the most interesting things we saw in Normandy was the Bayeux Tapestry. It is a beautiful 230 foot long piece of medievel art. It tells of the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror in 1066. We were not allowed to take pictures of the tapestry, but you can click on the website above to check it out. It is highly recommended for history and art history buffs. Many of the churches and castles in and around Bayeux and Caen were associated with William the Conqueror. All of the churches shown below were associated with William except the church that was left in its' bombed out state from World War II. |
