Nationalism. Just like any other country, Japan has its right wing extremists. Black busses and vans driving down the street, broadcasting nationalistic propaganda are not uncommon sights in Japanese cities. This is a small nationalistic bus parked in front of Tokyo's Yasukuni shrine. Yasukuni is the most controversial shrine in Japan. I wrote more about it in my entry.
