Is it not encouraging to give our best and to avoid potential disaster? We are more concerned with our mutual understanding and flawless manners that look to our safety without inviting any trouble for us. There is a buzz to safeguard women within media and social media after the gang rape of Nirbhaya, a Delhi medical student. There were violent protests by students, fighting back to get supremacy and freedom, embarking on a new relationship between them without knowing each other but aspiring a common goal awakened the Government from its slumber. The whole country is behind this movement and the Government is seized of the problem but slow in its action; thinking that people are divided in their opinions and their plan will fizzle out sooner or later. Media and social workers motivated them not to let the fire die which made the Government and judiciary to act fast, because it was rare of the rarest case. Strict laws are being enacted, charges against the six culprits are being framed by the police, but the crime is not abating. It means some hooligans who are unemployed, illiterate, no family life, living below poverty line have no fear of law and order, and are under the impression of getting two meals a day in jail.
Now the question arises how this indiscipline came in our society when our predecessors were god fearing, having full respect for woman, and worshipping goddesses with high powered energy like Durga and Vaishnodevi. We are proud of our judiciary and media who are good performers, and are not like our leaders who simply talk and dont deliver. It is a matter to be thoroughly investigated that why we are lacking in our efforts to maintain discipline. In our society we have greed for wealth and power, which compels us to lie low for our vicious desires. We also need to discuss the role of culture among our female actors, who are after name, fame and wealth. The picture of Neha Dhupia, an actress appeared in HT City on 11th Feb., 2013 in which she permitted the camera to travel far-flung with its lens power to show her individual and isolated parts, and being paid handsomely she is not feeling any regret for the popular culture of Bollywood portraying or made to portray her physical form making it more significant to attract the attention of viewers. These actors should keep in mind that they have lakhs of fans who by following them can make or mar their career. The camera shows the womans body in separate parts to envision her as an assortment of predictable belongings. It also shows the profanity of a woman, exaggerating lewdness of her face, making her a submissive storehouse for mans desire, which is a dangerous trend. Not only this the desires go on rocketing and most of actors start taking drugs, liquor and get into the habit of smoking, which their own society permits them to do that. Thinking that they could be successful in their career becomes the victim of vices and leads a life full of worry and frustration. They get themselves caught in such a vicious web, which restricts them to go back to lead a normal life. They perform in scanty clothes inviting people to imagine every limb of their body and travel their gaze from one part to the other thinking it to be consumable commodity.
Why there is a spurt of rape violent incidents after the strict action being taken against the culprits of Delhi gang rape, which can go to life imprisonment or execution. Culprits blame media and social media for getting them depicted in prevalent culture. Emancipation of women was a popular movement and women got freedom, creating many other problems which are mostly connected to Bollywood. This is an institution where women create strong ambitions to collect lot of wealth, power, fame, and to become celebrities. Their culture has become entirely separate from the culture of society, and thus they are not afraid about their previous culture, though the parents might feel embarrassed but feel helpless to give lessons against the culture of Bollywood. Their costumes mostly do not match with the acts they perform but they either do it themselves to get cheap popularity or the producers make them wear such dresses to perform those acts which might give popularity to become a hit picture in the box office. We are copying the most developed countries in portraying sexually empowered women and not only that we have beat them and have gone much ahead of them. The problem society face is their competition with housewives who also like to flaunt their bodies, showing cleavage and become victims of unbecoming remarks of passersby, and sometimes develop illicit relations with shoddy persons with whom they come in contact with. They ultimately get divorced and lead a distressful life.
Too much wealth shapes our beliefs differently, money is spent on liquor, costly items, making a showoff of branded costumes, performing ostentatious marriages, ignoring law and order, getting involved in accidents spending most of their precious time lingering around courts nurturing fear of going behind the bars, and thus such people lead an unnatural life. To disrupt this malady we require a drastic change in the system, by implementing strict laws and not by censor board, which is not ripe to restrict obscenity.
