Roo's Story!
"Prince Roofus Of Riverwood"
We have been looking into getting Roo for about 2 weeks. It all started when we had seen a website for sheltered poodles in Nashville and we came across a poodle that the foster home he was in, called him Poo...
(Click HERE to see Poo's shelter adoption ad) and we already have a Poo and thought it was very eerie, another poodle named Poo...what are the odds. So, we e-mailed the lady who is fostering him for the shelter and asked her questions and filled out an online application to be considered for Poo's (Roo's) new family. Once approved, we decided to just go and see him... not to take him but we wanted to see how he was and make sure he wouldn't be put to sleep...

Well, when we met him... funny thing.... Me, who is a pushover for animals and who always falls in love at first site with an animal and always wants to take them home and Chris who NEVER wants to take them home.... Well, in this case it was pretty clear that Chris took an instant liking to Poo right from the start... And Poo fell in love with Chris too. He is sooo incredibly sweet, and lovable. LOVES to sit on laps and he even gives hugs like my other Poo does!!!
Must be a poodle thing... anyway, he was living there with other dogs, A LOT of other dogs... 3 other poodles and 3 other dogs of mixed breeds.... 2 of the 3 other poodles are standards and are HUGE! But Poo, he was locked in an outside pen all day because the foster mommy he had worked all day so Poo sat outside all day with 4-5 other dogs and we just felt that he deserved a more pampered life...
Although we didnt decide on adopting him while we were there... we actually left and came home and just kept thinking on how sometimes it rains soooo hard and that poor Poo is sitting in that pen getting soaked and we just couldnt bare to think of it.... so the next day, we e-mailed the lady back and told her we needed Poo (now Roo) in our home to be loved and spoiled!  Well yesterday at about 6pm, she brought him to us!

Now Poo ended up at the shelter because someone just tied him to the door of the shelter in the middle of the night, he wasnt very well fed, his teeth were all rotted and his skin and coat were awful! They ended up having to take all his teeth, but 3, out of his mouth! And so now he cant really chew anything.... Poor thing!

Well, when Roo got here yesterday... it was discovered that the poor thing was ravished with fleas and flea eggs! So, I sat with him for over an hour clipping off all his hair (except his head) and he was soooo good... never squirmed or made a sound, just sat there and let me do what needed to be done! Then he got a nice warm flea bath and was again, very calm and just sat there panting the whole time!
Then he went to bed with us and slept so quietly all night on the bed.... Chris had his arm around him all night!
He's sooo cute and calm compared to my other two!! He has been neutered and his estimated age is either 6 or 7. Chris and I decided that his birthday is July 31st and he is 7 years old!
HAPPY B-day ROO!! We love you!
