The Ann Arbor Hospital Murders
In the Ann Arbor Hospital during a period of six weeks in 1976 at least 56 people were murdered. The victims were poisoned with the drug Pavulon. As the numbers increased the FBI was called in to try and find the culrpit.
In June 1976 30 year old sister Filipina Narcissco and fellow nurse 31 year old Leonora Perez were arrested and charged with eight murders as well as the charge of conspiracy and attempt to poison. The reason the trial failed to convict them was that had been no concrete evidence, or witnesses to them actually administering the muscle relaxing drug. There had only been circumstantial evidence, for instance there was one night that eight patients alone died.while the two women were on the ward.
However after the nurses were arrested a hospital supervisor wrote a confession to the murders and committed suicide.
The case remains open.
