Southern Survivor Dart K

Running this site has some distinct advantages, mainly being the interesting people you meet, and the different K-cars they have. I recently recieved an email from Ruben Brito Arroyo, all the way south in Tampico, Mexico.

Ruben has a very interesting K, and an equally interesting (if sad) story to go with it. You see, Ruben's 1985 Dart K is a genuine survivor. It has 3000km (less than 1900 miles) on the clock, and is in the condition to prove it. It is immaculate!

The story gooes that in 1985, an elderly gentleman in Cuernavaca, Mexico bought the car new. He also was very sick, and consequently, he drove the car for a few months only, before it was parked in a garage and left. The widow, not wishing to sell her departed husbands car, kept it in storage since that time, only turning it on and running it every once in a while to keep the engine in good shape.

3 years ago, Ruben's uncle heard about the car, and went to see it. The widow agreed to sell it, and after driving it for a while, Ruben bought it off him. His only change was to replce the original steel wheels with aluminum, replace the tires, and the timing/alternator belts. Other than that, and plenty of Mobil 1 synthetic, it has remained stock.
