The Challenge

1.     Harike today is facing an ecological crisis and some estimates give it a lifespan of less than 80 years. An increase in agriculture and other anthropogenic activities in the catchment areas has resulted in deteoiration of Wetland over the years.

The Main Cause

2.    The lake is virtually a recepticle of domestic, agriculture and industrial waste, which flow in from the Satluj and the Beas rivers.
