QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME(QIP)

1. A number of lectures by staff officers were conducted as a part of QIP. Some of the lectures presented during the trg year are as follows:-

(a) 'Thermal Management of AFVs' by Maj T Mallikarjun.

(b) 'Org & Employability of Rapids' by Lt Col VD Bhanot.

(d) 'Condition Monitoring - Vib Analysis' by Prof Shri GJS Rao.

(e) 'Power in Private Sector - a pragmatic approach' by EE Shri Ravisankar.

(f) 'ARV VT-72B (Auto)' by EE Shri BA Srinivas.

(g) 'Tech Appreciation of ARV VT-72B' by EE Shri ASR Murthy.

(h) 'Oils,Hydraulics and Pneumatics with controls' by Maj Biju.

(j) 'Thermal Mgt of BMP II with turbocharged eng' by Maj T Mallikarjun.

(k) 'Four Quadrant Drive for DC/AC' by Prof Shri OS Selvamani.

(l) 'Introduction to Tk Med T-90' by Maj SY Deshmukh.

2. The following staff were detailed for various courses outside as a part of QIP pgme:-

(a) EE Shri ASR Murthy, Sub ML Das and HMT Prakash Godbole were trained on electrical systems of VT 72B at BHEL, Tiruchirapalli during Aug-Sep 98.

(b) Sub Swaran Singh and Sub ML Das were trained on 'Maint of SIMFIRE T-72' at BHEL, Bangalore during Dec-Jan 99.

(c) Sub Swaran Singh attended trg on 'Repair and Maint of Hydraulic and GCE systems of MBT Arjun' at CVRDE during Feb 99.

(d) Sub Swaran Singh was detailed to attend trg on 'Rep and Maint of FCS and Gunner Main Sight, Cdr's Panoramic sight' at IRDE, Dehradun during Mar-Apr 99.

SEMINARS/CEP COURSES ATTENDED BY STAFF

1. A paper on 'Overview of Electronic Intelligence in Future Commercial Vehicle Generations' was written by Maj T Mallikarjuna for a Seminar on 'Multi-Axle Vehicles' conducted at VRDE, Ahmednagar on 25 and 26 Sep 98.

2. Maj T Mallikarjuna attended a CEP course on 'Latest Trends in Mobility Concepts of Combat Vehicles' held at IAT, Girinagar, Pune from 5 to 9 Jul 98.

3. Maj T Mallikarjuna attended a CEP course on 'Multimedia Tools and Techniques' held at IAT, Girinagar, Pune from 14 to 18 Sep 98.

4. Maj Biju Shantharam attended a CEP course on 'Oil Hydraulics and Pneumatics with Control' held at IAT,Girinagar,Pune from 12 to 16 Oct 98.

5. SE Shri SR Chohan, attended a 4 week course on 'T-72' at Engine Factory, HVF, Avadi.

6. SE Shri SR Chohan, also attended a course on 'Quality Maint and Assurance' held at Def Institute of Quality Assurance, Bangalore from 21 to 25 Sep 98.

(i) Design of a Material Handling Eqpt of 3 Ton capacity for use in an Armd Wksp.

(ii) Test Bench to Carry out after repair performance check of Maruti Gypsy Gearbox.

(iii) Working Model of Disc Breaking System of Maruti Gypsy.

(iv) Working Model of Clutch and Txn System of Maruti Gypsy.

(v) Working Model of Fuel Supply System and Carburettor of Maruti Gypsy using Electric Fuel Pump.

(b) DE-67 (Mech) Course.

(i) Development of a CBT package on SI & CI Engine.

(ii) Development of a CBT package on Rec Operations.

(iii) Development of a Self Learning CBT package on TM tasks of T-72

(iv) Develop a pgme for storing of Data of `A' vehs in Armd Wksp.

(v) Design & Develop an Oxygen Enhanced IC Engine (Petrol).

(vi) Design a Software analysis of Fault Frequency of T-72 & BMP II
