Zechariah
Chapter fourteen
<*><*><*><*><*><*>
The Day of Yahuweh
And
The Kingdom of Yahuweh
This is the final Chapter of Zecharyah. It also is the final stage of Yahuweh's plan to restore His creation back to the way it was intended from the beginning.
Like it was before mankind did fall for Satan's trickery and Satan and sin took over on Earth.
Verse 1. See day to come for Yahuweh, Then to be divided your spoil in your midst. First of all we are told that there is a day coming for Yahuweh and the following events in this chapter are on and after that particular day when it has come.

Before the bad news, first some reassurance to the nation Israel.
Your, in this verse is in the female singular depicting the nation Israel.
The spoil could raise question marks if we did not have other Scriptures to show us this spoil. Ezekiel 39:9-10 shows us what the spoil is. Also compare Isaiah 33:17-24.
Verse 2.

Then I to gather all the nations against Yerushalaim to do battle and to be captured the city and to be rifled the houses and the women to be lain with and to go forth half of the city in exile but the remnant (of) the people not to be cut from the city. Now that does not sound right when Yahuweh promises to restore Israel and Yerushalaim and then we read that the city will be captured plundered and the women raped.
There is a twofold reason that Yahuweh in His complete righteousness allows this to happen.
  1. It is part of the purification process that Yahuweh uses for Israel
  2. Satan is allowed to actually fulfil his desire to take the city from Yahuweh and this makes Satan guilty and gives Yahuweh the legal right to punish Satan and his followers.
  3. This same event but with other details is narrated in Ezek. 38 & 39.
Some people will stay in the city but some shall go into exile. It is not clear whether the half goes into exile, which is leave the city, before or after the siege. I think it might be before.
When we read about the woman in Revelation 12, we must conclude that this woman is Israel. In verse 6 we read that Israel fled to the wilderness to a place prepared by Yahuweh and to be nourished by Him. While we definitely can agree that the prediction from verse 5 has become true for 100%, we cannot say this of verse 6, so it still has to happen.

In Matthew 24, we find the predictions of the last prophet during the 69 weeks, Yeshuah the Moshiya.
Yeshua talks here about these last day's, which we are reading about in this chapter of Zecharyah.
In Matt.24:16 Yeshua says let them flee to the mountains.
Returning to the Tanakh, we see in Micah 2:12-13 How Yahuweh gathers the remnant together and also brings them back, this shall be after the events described here and in the following verses.

Because the translations are not giving a clear picture of Micah 2:12-13, here is my translation:

I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of [the multitude of] men.
The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and Yahuweh on the head of them.
From this and from Habakkuk 3:3-6 and Isaiah 63:1-6 I believe they will seek shelter in the caves and valleys between Bozrah and Petra, which is the old Edomite capital Sela.

Verse 3. Then to come out Yahuweh and to do battle against the nations the them, because (it is the) day of His fighting, in the day (of the) confrontation. The day of confrontation with the enemy, the battle, will be Yahuweh's day of fighting.
Zecharyah already saw this in Zech. 9:14-15. This is something that is hard to grasp for us, let alone to be understood. Our creator Yahuweh Himself shall fight against the nations that besiege Israel and Yerushalaim. If those nations only understood this, they would be terrified and leave Israel alone. However Satan has blinded their eyes and Yahuweh lets them because the world has once and forever to be cleansed from them who oppose Yahuweh. When we read the prophecies of this book and we see that so many of them have been fulfilled literally, we can be sure this all shall happen.
Verse 4. Then to stand his feet in the day the him on mount the olives, which is toward the face of Yerushalaim from the East. And shall be split open mount the olives from out of his middle to wards the East and towards the west, valley great very. To be moved half the mountain to wards the north and his half to wards the south.

Now it is very clear that this is Yahuweh who is coming upon the Mount of Olives.

When we read Acts 1:9-12, we see that Yeshua went up from the Mount of Olives and is also to return there. From this verse and other Scriptures, we know that there is but one Elohiem and Moshiya and that He is Yahuweh.
Not two persons as the Church teaches, but one person in different manifestations.
The Mount of Olives, about 815 meters above sea level, is a barrier to the East of Yerushalaim.
Also between the Mount of Olives and the East gate of Yerushalaim are many graves from people of the contra religion. They claim that a Jew never will walk over graves to enter the East gate and hereby are silly enough to believe that they can prevent that which is written in Ezekiel 43: 1-4. When the mount split in two, the ground will be moved and the graves and bones shall be moved as well.
There shall be a great valley and no more barriers to the east of Yerushalaim. There shall be free passage to the East.
Verse 5. Then you to flee towards valley of the mount, because (is) to reach valleys of the mountains to atzal. And you flee like when you flee from the face of the earthquake in the day of Ouziyah king of Yehudah. Also, to come Yahuweh Elohay. All holy ones with you. The way is now open to flee eastwards to escape the events previously mentioned in verse 2.
Atzal is probably not a place we know, but it can be translated as "the proximity reserved."

When the Mount of Olives is removed it leaves the way open to the valleys alongside the Dead Sea and the way to Bozra and the caves and mountains previously mentioned in the comments on verse 2.
They probably will flee also for an earthquake because according to, Ezek. 38:19 and Revelation 11:13, there will be an Earthquake in those days.
The quake in the days of Ouziyah (Uzziah) was a historical event and is referred to by Amos in Amos 1:1.

My translation according to the context differs again from most translations.
I think after passing on the message from Yahuweh Zecharyah is giving an observation from himself saying:
"also Yahuweh my Elohiem is to come and then all the Holy-ones shall be with you."
The last sentence has often been translated as, "with Him." Those translators must speak a different kind of Hebrew or are implying that Yahuweh does not know what He is talking about. The Hebrew text says clearly. "With You." This is in the female singular form and therefore points to the nation Israel.
Zecharyah knows the expectations of Israel, which are the prophecies of Enoch who say that the Moshiya, when He comes, shall bring with Him all the Holy-ones.
We can learn this from the "Ketuvim Netzarim," erroneously called New Testament , from, Jude 14-18 and Revelation 19:14. Holy-ones simply means, "Those set apart by Yahuweh for Yahuweh."
Verse 6.

Then to be in the day the him not to be light. Precious ones being crushed. Precious ones, can refer to sparkling jewels and in this context are probably referring to the light-giving luminaries. Jewels being crushed are not sparkling anymore.
Joel 2, speaks about this time also and the darkness is mentioned in the verses 2 & 31.
Egypt shall be involved read Ezek. 32:7-8, compare Exodus 10:21-22.
Note also Amos 5:18 & 20, Zephaniah. 1:14-15 and Rev.16:10. Remember! when you read "Lord" in your translations, the original Hebrews text says, "Yahuweh."
Verse 7. Also to be day only one (of his sort) he. To be made known by Yahuweh, not day and not night. Then to be, by time end of the day, he going to be light. Yahuweh has already established this day, but it is still to be made known by Him when it starts.
It is a unique day not day or not night.
This indicates it is not a normal 24-hour day. During the time this day takes, it will be dark.
By time the end of the day, here is not meant the normal evening of a 24hour day at sunset.

When that day, however long it might be, is over there will be light again.

All this indicates that the normal planetary actions and movements will be disturbed.
Verse 8.

And to be in day the him to come forth waters-living from Yerushalaim halves toward the sea the eastern and halves toward sea the western in summer and in winter he shall be. Read Ezekiel 47:1-12.
The river going to the South shall end up in the Dead Sea, which will become living. There is also going to be a river from Yerushalaim to the Mediterranean Sea, but it might very well not going straight westwards but meander through the country and end up in the Mediterranean.

There is evidence that there is at the present underground water in Yerushalaim, however these rivers are probably the same rivers that are mentioned in Genesis 2:10-14. Any comparison made with these rivers to rivers after the flood is speculation. The Genesis text indicates a river coming up from de ground in Eden. Like I have shown in my other studies, Eden must have been the place where we find now Yerushalaim.
Anyhow, there is plenty of indication here that the whole appearance of the land Israel shall be altered.
Verse 9.

Then to be Yahuweh as King over all the Earth. In day the him shall be Yahuweh one (and only) and His name one (and only). Compare this with Jeremiah 10:10 which fits in nicely with our context.
Now read Jeremiah 23:5-8 and remember that the title "Lord" in most translations, can depict anyone you choose. However, the name Yahuweh in the original Hebrew text points to one and only one being.
Jeremiah speaks here about the righteous branch of David.
The only one that is totally righteous is Yahuweh.
Yahuweh became a righteous human, the Moshiya came in our midst as one of us. He also differed from us because He also still is Elohiem Yahuweh and as human the only righteous human.

By His unrightfully dead and His resurrection He took away the guild of our Sin.

That is all He did. He took the punishment for our guilt upon Himself. He did not act at that time as Moshiya, which is deliverer, of Israel. Jeremiah says that this righteous branch, Yahuweh as a human, shall be the everlasting King. Since Yahuweh never contradicts Himself, this again is proof that Yahuweh and the Moshiya are one being.
Verse 10. To be turned over all the Earth as an arabah from geba1 1 to rimmon 2. Southland Yerushalaim then lifted and inhabited under her, about from gate Binyamin to the place (of) gate Harishon (the first) to the gate Hapiniym (the corners) and from gidal (tower) chananel to winepress of the King. We see here that all the area to the North including Samaria Megiddo (Armageddon) Plain of Jisreel, which are all the areas of the big end time battles, shall be turned in to an arabah which is big desert plain.
This is most likely the area where all the armies and their weapons are buried, Ezekiel 39:11-16.
map Israel
The south of Yerushalaim shall be a residential area.
Remember the earth's profile shall have totally been changed. The Kidron valley shall be mostly river and the Hinnom 3 valley shall have disappeared, the land having been lifted.

This is specially mentioned because that valley south of Yerushalaim was for Israel the focus of everything evil.

The gates and tower mentioned would have been well known to the people of Zecharyah's days. They are now somewhat obscure for us.
Verse 11.

Then shall be dwelt in her and appointed to destruction not they to be again. Then shall dwell Yerushalaim according to security. Yerushalaim is 600 times mentioned in the Tanakh, of these a few point to the city's eternal security. Zecharyah did it already in Zech. 8:3-4 & 8. We find it also in: Isaiah 30:19; Jer. 33:16 and Joel 3:20.
Verse 12. And so shall be the pestilence that which to strike Yahuweh at all the peoples that go to war against Yerushalaim, to cause to rot in their flesh and he to stand on his legs. And his eyes rot away in their holes and his tongue to rot in their mouths. Two passages that refer to this are Ezek. 38:22 and Rev. 16:2. Compare also; 1Sam. 5:9; Isa. 66:16 and Jer. 25:33.
Verse 13. And it shall be in the day the him to be confusion from Yahuweh abundant by them and they to take hold of man hand his neighbour and come up his hand against hand his neighbour. This seems to be Yahuweh's MO (Modus Operandus), bring the enemy in such a state of confusion that they start to kill each other.
See the following Scriptures; Deut. 7:23; Judges 7:22; 1Sam. 14:19 & 19:2; 2Kings 7:6; Jer. 45:12.
Verse 14. And also Yehudah to engage in battle at Yerushalaim and to be gathered wealth all the nations round about gold and silver and garments abundantly much. Like I mentioned before, we know that in the latter days all Israeli are called Jews from Yehudeans.
Zecharyah says here that whole Israel as it is known in our times, shall be involved in that great battle for Yerushalaim.
They will be compensated for everything done to them by the nations, by having as their spoil all the wealth of those nations round about.
This is where verse 1 of this Chapter points also to.
Verse 15. And thus they to be pestilences (to) the hors the mule the camel and the ass and all the beasts which are in the camps the they like pestilence the these. The same pestilence that strikes the people will also strike all the other living beings like the animals .
Verse 16-17. Then to be all that are left over of all the nations that came upon Yerushalaim also to go up as often as year by year to bow down to king Yahuweh Tzevaot and to feast at the feast the Sukkoth.
And to be when not go up from the families (of) the Earth to Yerushalaim to bow down to king Yahuweh Tzevaot then not on them to be the rain.
Now this is very clear and straightforward. Yahuweh will be the king in Yerushalaim and every nation on earth shall have to come before Him once a year at Sukkoth. Sukkoth is the feast that memorises that Yahuweh has in the past taken care of Israel. How appropriate that those former enemies humbly have to acknowledge that indeed Yahuweh has taken care of Israel.

Another detail is made here made clear to us. In the Millennium there is still the possibility to do things your own way. However, if your own thing is contrary to the rules you be punished.

In our "olam" (era) people still get away with doing sin.
In the "Olam HaBa" (coming era) not.
Note in Isaiah 65:17-25 verse 20. This indicates that sinners do not have a normal lifespan.
Verse 18-19. Then if families Egypt not go up and not go, then not on them (rain). It shall be the plague with which to strike Yahuweh the nations that not went up to feast at feast the Sukkoth.
It shall be the sin punishment Egypt and the sin punishment all the nations which not go up to feast at the feast the Sukkoth.
From this and other scriptures it appears that Egypt will play a major role in the last war over Yerushalaim.
Verse 20. In the day the him shall be upon bells the horse: "Kodesh to Yahuweh" and shall be the pots in Beyt-Yahuweh like bowls before the altar. Every thing will be "Kodesh", which is set apart for Yahuweh. In previous times only the bowls used at the altar would have been anointed kodesh but know every pot and pan would be kodesh.
Verse 21. Then shall all pots in Yerushalaim and in Yehudah kodesh to Yahuweh Tzevaot. Then come all that slaughter and take from them and to boil in them. And not to be merchants again in Beyt-Yahuweh Tzevaot in the day the him. To me this indicates that the pots that are boiling with slaughtered meat are for common use. You take some out or you put some in.
In previous times there where always merchants in the Temple. That this was not the will of Yahuweh we can learn from Yeshua who overturned their tables, Matthew 21:12-13.
The Hebrew word cena'aniy can also mean merchant and in this context related translation it is therefore used as such.
<*><*><*><*><*><*>
This finishes the book of Zecharyah. First Yahuweh used him to show us parts from His plan to restore peace and well-being on Earth and reinstate Israel as a nation. He showed us that Israel need to be purified and the nations to be punished. He told us that it all would accumulate on a particular day which shall be unique and on which He Yahuweh personally shall come as the Moshiya, the saviour of Israel. Yahuweh leaves no doubts about the fact that He is the expected Moshiya and therefore to us, who have accepted Yeshua, is Yeshuah Yahuweh who came to Earth before as Moshiya in human form to deliver us from the guilt of our sins.
