Windmills!
I have made a few little windmills.
They are unregulated 12 volt, non furling types.
The generators used are: stepper motors, brush DC motors, Fisher&Pakel washing machine permanent magnet 3 phase motors, a Durst residual magnetisim brush type ship generator, And the one I like best is a DC brush motor, with the brushes removed, and two rings of diodes soldered to the old brush contacts, with a wire fed out past the bearings. The blades rotate the case, and the shaft is held still.
This little farm in Wainuiomata, New Zealand, has no national power grid, just solar, wind and a petrol generator. it is a very windy place, and we have about seven windmills working at present.
Some of the "big boys" must have seen what we were up to, and they went and built these monsters!
They made so many, that if one "relocated" one night, I don't think they would notice!
....but the neighbours might not like the blades overhanging there place.
