The Undergraduate brothers of the Gamma Phi chapter hopes this newsletter finds you well.  This is an extremely exciting time for our chapter.  We are having a philanthropy for the first time in recent memory.  The event will take place on April 13, 2002, and involves kidnapping the mayor of Morgantown and holding him for ransom.  The beneficiary of our philanthropy that the mayor selected is the Morgantown Botanical Society.  We are honored that Phillip Gaujot (1968) has taken over as Alumnus Advisor, and that he has helped us in many aspects of chapter life as well.  The chapter would also like to thank the alumni for the re-framing and re-glassing of damaged composites so that when you come back to the chapter house you can see your picture on the walls that all of us hold so dear.  The chapter is also proud that we strictly follow West Virginia University and Kappa Sigma's hazing and alcohol and drug policies.  We take great pride in knowing that being a member of Gamma Phi is a safe and prosperous journey for all it's members.  Some major points of the alcohol and drug policy are as follows:

The chapter shall abide by all rules of its host college/university (no kegs)

No chapter may purchase alcoholic beverages with chapter funds

The direct of indirect sale of alcoholic beverages by the chapter is forbidden

The use of or possession of any unlawful drug in any form is forbidden

All rush functions and rush activities will be without the presence of alcohol

No member shall facilitate alcoholic beverages to anyone under the legal drinking age

The chapter strongly encourages "My Brother's Keeper" to activities and pledges

Please feel free to look at the chapter website for undergraduate biographies so that you can understand and get to know the us better.  By this we are hoping to bring about a closer with the men who have paved the way for us to be here.  The chapter website is www.geocities.com/kappasigma_gammaphi.  The Gamma Phi chapter has brought ten new faces into Kappa Sigma during the 2001-2002 school year.  We pride ourselves on the diversity and unity of the chapter, and are striving to bring Kappa Sigma back to its rightful place as the best fraternity at West Virginia University.  We take great pride in being Kappa Sigma's, and also remind each other "The Star and Crescent shall not be worn by every man, but by him who is worthy to wear it."

Fraternally Yours,
The Undergraduate Members of Gamma Phi
