Domesticating Duo
Part Five: On The Job
Duo ran down the hallway, sliding into his cubicle just as an alert
popped up on his computer. He really hated the office's instant message
system. This time it was Sylvia from accounting, needing some kind of
report.
Duo sighed. He had been working here for a few months, while Heero
stayed at home with maternity leave. They had saved enough money to get
a small apartment with two bedrooms, and would be spending their first
night there tonight.
Heero's pregnancy was coming along nicely, his stomach protruding in a
round lump. They had had to go buy maternity clothes, most of which
were flowing dresses, since pants were a bitch to wear. They had gone
for an ultra sound yesterday, but decided to keep the gender of the
baby a secret. Duo thought he was handling the pregnancy quite well
himself, despite the fact that he was only sixteen and would soon be
tied down for the rest of his life…
But it was best not to go down that line of thought.
He grabbed the report from his file cabinet, hopping into the elevator
just before it closed. He was just standing there when he felt
something brush against his ass, turning around to come face to face
with his boss. The guy was good looking enough, kind of like Treize
Krushenada when he was around. Duo started to grin saucily when he
realized he was engaged, turning instead to face the front of the
elevator and ignoring the Treize clone for the rest of the ride.
The day didn't get any better from there. The suits upstairs had him
running around the entire building, meeting with this somebody, then
with that somebody, and then the copier he was using jammed, and his
computer crashed. He went out to lunch, where they had just served the
last piece of salmon to some one else, and came back to a pile of
paperwork on his desk. On top of that he had to avoid his boss for the
rest of the day, who he swore was following him around. He hated office
jobs.

Heero stared down at his feet, over the round hill of his stomach. He
wiggled his toes a little, trying to assess whether they were bloated
or not. They certainly felt bloated. His thoughts were interrupted,
however when he heard something scraping against the keyhole of the
door.
"Duo?" He waddled towards the front of the apartment, opening the door
to let his lover stumble in. "How was your day?"
"Fine," Duo stumbled into the kitchen, plopping down in front of the
table. "What's for dinner?"
Heero bristled. "How should I know? I'm not your maid."
Duo groaned as Heero marched into the master bedroom, slamming the door
behind him. He guessed it was cold cereal for him tonight.

Duo hoped Heero was in a better mood now. Having finished afore
mentioned cold cereal dinner, he had dropped his bowl in the sink and
moved into the bathroom, promptly dropping face down on the bed. He
heard Heero come out of the bathroom a second later, laying down on the
bed next to him.
"I'm sorry, Duo, these hormones are really getting to me. I know you
must have had a long day at work."
"Mmm."
"I thought we could pick out baby names."
"Mmm hmm."
"I was thinking if it was a girl, we could name her Kira."
"Blhhh."
"Okay, maybe not. What about Sophie?"
"Unn nn."
"Well, what did you want to name her?"
"Menen."
"Melon? Don't speak into the pillow, honey, I can't hear you."
"Helen."
Heero blinked, contemplating. "I like that. Okay. What about boy names?"
"Maxwell."
"Umm…Maxwell Maxwell?"
"Oh. Yeah. Whatever then."
"Duo! This is our baby's name we're talking about." Heero dropped the
baby names book down on the nightstand, snuggling up into a still face
down Duo. "You know, I'm not in my third trimester yet."
"Not now, Heero," Duo said, pushing the other boy away slightly.
Heero sat up and pouted, before standing up and running out of the
room. "You don't find me sexually attractive anymore!"
Duo sighed, muttering as he fell asleep. "Ugh…s'not true, Heero…"
