OUR WOMAN IN BELGIUM!

So it is. Now we have someone of our own pirate and rail-fan group in Antwerp. She promised send us from time to time pictures of some trams from that country, which is the "Tramway Kingdom", and also from whose factories many cars and vehicles came into life and towards our country, argentina, some still on duty. Here are the first 2 photos.

Antwerp has currently the longest and important tramway network and one of the most colorful ones, because almost all of their cars show many different advertising banners. This pic was taken from the backside of a house, with the car passing at the front of a little park hidden in Antwerp, Capital of the belgian diamonds. It's a PCC Series 7000 from the "De Lijn" company.

A tramway from Ghent, northeastern Belgium. These cars are similar to those of Antwerp.

This picture shows a crossing between  tramway and  trolley bus aereal lines. Anothe PCC 7000, this time with its official livery.

Antwerp was one of the first european cities (along with Zrich, for example) in having a narrow gauge system for its electric tramways. It runs since 1889.

One of the first low floor trams put in service at Ghent. The company that owns them plans to change the entire fleet of 7000s soon, keeping some for the museum.

Another tramway at Ghent with an advertising livery.
If you want to watch more about the tramways from Antwerp, please go to these following sites.

MIVA Site made by a Belgian fan who takes photos from tramways with different advertising liveries.

SUBWAY.net American page dedicated to Antwerpian trams and its 7000 series, which is the most common one (but not the most recent one!) that rolls in Antwerp.

From Brussels, an articulated tramway currently on use. This car is not really very new, since it is in service since 1992-93.
