MESSAGE FROM
THE NATIONAL LEADER

Dear SSEAYP Delegations

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for entrusting me with the responsibility as a National Leader to the 32nd Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP), 2005.

To Brunei Darussalam Participating Youths, warmest congratulations to you all for being selected to represent our country to the once a lifetime programme with pride and dignity. The young ambassadors are expected to make an effort to enjoy the maximum benefit from this programme and to bring home fond memories that are to be cherished forever.

The benefits of SSEAYP are seen not only to foster leadership and international point of view among participating youths; it has also allowed the establishment of important diplomatic ties between Brunei Darussalam with other ASEAN countries and Japan. Hence it has become an important arena that invigorates enduring relationships among young leaders who are committed to taking forefront responsibilities for the future of ASEAN and Japan.

The SSEAYP is about learning through exchange of ideas and interaction among participants. Each participant should explore the beauty and uniqueness of every culture and discover the genuine friendship and camaraderie. At the same time, be proud of our own culture. Your behaviour will reflect on who Bruneians are, as such I hope all of you will display exemplary behaviour at all times.

Let your SSEAYP experience be just a beginning of our partnership in serving our country and I expect all of you will play an active role in contributing your effort towards youth development activities in serving the community, our beloved nation and the world as a whole.

I wish you all every success for the 32nd Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme and hope all the delegates will reap the benefits from this programme.

Last but not least, I hope all the participating youth of Brunei Darussalam will work together as a team, observes the rules and guidelines; and take good care of your own health throughout this programme.

Wassalam

MOKSIN BIN HAJI OMAR
