| "She Was" Written and (c)--2002 KaoticAngel Lyrics: Mark Chesnutts "She Was" Disclamier: Dont know him, wish I did but don't! She started her new life/Ten dollars in debt/Thats all it took to get started back than/A trip to the court house /Across the state line/No one could stop her/shed made up her mind Katherine smiled and fingered the new ring that adorned her left ring finger, as she walked out of the courthouse. Dale happily followed her out into the sunshine. He walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. So how does it feel to be Mrs. Dale Earnhardt Jr.? He lightly kissed her neck as he opened the car door for her. She smiled at him, and leaned up to briefly kiss him before replying. It feels great. She slipped into the passenger side of the car and watched him intently as he shut the door and waltzed on over to his side of the car. He opened his door and slid into his seat, starting the engine of his car. He was eighteen/She wasnt/But she said she was/And never thought twice/And came back home As my daddys wife/She just shook her head/When her mama said Are you sure hes the one Katherine, are you sure you made the right decision. Are you sure he is the one? Her mother barked at her daughter, as she watched her pack up her things into the three little suitcases she had sprawled out on her bed. Katherine nodded her head, and threw a few more items into the cases and flipped their lids shut. She turned to her mother and lightly kissed her cheek. I love you, mama. She smiled and walked down the stairs and out the door to where her new husband was waiting for her. Her mom, stood in front of the window, watching her baby girl throw her bags in the car and drive off into the sunset with her husband. Silent tears fell down her cheeks. He took the job/And farmed on the side/He made the ends meet/But she kept them tight/Changes were coming to their little world/She said /What would you like A boy or a girlHe said are you/And she said she was/And never thought twice/Bout taking the next step in building their lives Dale slammed the door downstairs, causing Katherine to jump from her seat. Honey? He appeared in the doorway, wiping the sweat from his brow. His face lit up in a smile when he saw her. Sorry about that. Its been a long day. She stood up and walked over to him, kissing him passionately. She sighed to herself and leaned up to whisper, What would you like? A Boy? Or a Girl? He stepped back slightly. Are you? Her smiled grew. I am. A small smile, started to grow and it grew until he couldnt smile anymore. He placed a hand on her belly, where his child was now growing. Wow.... he pulled his wife close to him, cradeling her in his arms tightly. Soon there were three/And she tried to be everything to us/She was Joseph! Corrine! Junior! Time for dinner! Katherine called to her three children whom were outside playing. All three of them came running in, with their father fast on their heels. They were all giggling uncontrollably when Dale grabbed them all and started to tickle them. Dale! Leave the kids alone so they can eat! She scolded her husband. Yes mother. He stuck his tounge out at his wife and took his place at the kitchen table. The kids and his wife all following suit. They all sat and ate in silence, occasionally asking one another to pass some sort of food dish to the other. Those precious moments turned into years/And what seemed like the blink of an eye/I held her hand as I leaned down to ask her/Mama are you ready to say goodbye Joseph sat at the edge of his mothers bed, gripping her hand tightly. He leaned down to kiss her on the forehead, whispering slightly, his voice wavering. Mama? Are you ready to say goodbye? Katherine spoke in a whisper. I am. She said she was/But she thought twice/Holding my hand, as she let go of life They all stood around the bed, watching as their mother and wife let go of life and went on another place. Quiet sobs were heard from the room as all of the kids exited the room and left their father alone with their mother. He kissed his wife once more before he stood up and exited the room, walking out into the pale moon light and blindly driving back to his house. Daddy always said/A woman like her would be hard to give up/She was/If there ever was a picture of love/She was... Take me Home | Send Feedback | KaoticAngel's Fiction |
