We entered the contest at 8:30am, Saturday morning. We found a nice warm mall to come up with an idea, by 9am we were shooting. We finished up and had lunch by 2:30 and went home to edit the project (poorly) on Jeff's inadequate VCR. By 5pm, we'd handed in our project to the judges, an hour after the deadline, but the second project turned in. We didn't win, but were pretty happy with what we'd accomplished, despite the unavoidably sloppy edit job. Well, Nathan won an honourable mention for Best Hair in the Festival, and several of the entries were, far, far worse than ours. We can honestly say our film was one of the top four in the festival!
In the coming week(s), we're going to edit the video properly, and use it as an exercise to folly and ADR (work with sound) to hone our filmmaking skills. Despite the disappointment, we feel a real sense of accomplishment. |
