Then and Now Chapter 49 ~A week later~ Nick got out of his Durango and looked at the condo sadly. A day from then they'd be at the airport waiting for them to walk out of their lives permanently. He stood there in thought for a moment then remembered he had people waiting. Nick walked up the steps and rang the doorbell laughing as it opened and Lis stood there half dressed, her jean shorts were half unbuttoned and her onepiece was showing through the half open baseball jersey. "Your early." Lis said pulling him inside. "Sorry." he smiled and shut the door behind him. "Where's everyone?" "Mom and Dad went to the store, Han's on the phone to her parents and I just came in from the beach." she said as she headed down the stairs to her room with Nick right behind her. "Exciting day." he teased. "Totally." she said sarcastically, throwing the light on in her room. The minute Nick saw her suitcases packed he frowned. "Are you sure your leaving tomorrow?" "Its what the plane ticket says." "I hate that." he pouted sitting on her bed. "I know..." she paused, she didn't want to have this talk so early in the day. "Give me five and I'll be dressed. If Han comes down let me know." "Gotcha!" Nick yelled laying back on her bed.Han walked into Lis' room and laughed seeing Nick having two of Lis' stuffed bears wrestle on another. "Charming Nicky." He grinned sheepishly and set the bears down. "I know I am. What are you up to?" Han glanced around for Lis, "She's getting dressed." he answered, reading her mind. "Waiting for Bri to pick me up and take me to the party." she whispered. "I'll keep her away for awhile so you two can get there." he leaned back on the bed. "How kind of you." Lis walked back into her room in her sundress. "Han when did you get down here?" "Just now." Han answered. "I'll take my keys and meet Bri outside. So I guess I'll see ya later. Have fun you two." she waved as she headed out of the room. Lis shook her head, "Now she wasn't acting odd, nope not in the least." "Well you know Han..." Nick said getting off the bed. "You ready?" "Almost. I gotta find my jacket and my little backpack." "Okay, try to hurry." She looked up from the carryon she was going through, "Why?" He smirked, "No reason. Just hurry." ~An hour later~ "Explain why you need to blindfold me again?" Lis asked as they pulled into Nick's driveway. "Just a little surprise. Nothing big but I want you to be surprised." She looked at him and sighed, "Okay...only because I trust you so much. Just don't toss me into the pool." she pleaded. "Promise." he said with a smile as eh jumped out and headed over to her side, opening the door for her. "Just follow what I say and we shouldn't have a problem." "If you say so." The group sat around the back, trying to be as quiet as they could since they had no real idea when Nick would be bringing Lis over. Aimee thought she heard a car door slam. "This could be it peeps. Quiet." "Quiet." AJ whispered, pulling Krys onto his lap. She nudged him with her elbow and watched as the back gate opened and Nick pulled Lis into the backyard. He grinned at the group and put his hand up. "Voila!" Nick said pulling the blindfold off. It took a minute for Lis to adjust to the harsh sunlight and then she realized everyone was there. "Hi." she said as they all started walking over. "Heya!" AJ said giving her a huge hug. "Gonna miss you blondie." She laughed, "J I'm not leaving till tomorrow." "Oh right." he grinned, "Well then I'll see you at the food table." He said as he grabbed Krys' hand and pulled her away, leaving Krys to shoot Lis an apologetic look and a quick wave as she was dragged away. D and Jenn laughed, "Well us being more mature then them...hi..." D said. Jenn rolled her eyes, "Yeah he's so mature. Anyways, hi Lis." Lis laughed, "Hey." "Gotta say you looked surprised." D stated as they walked deeper into the yard. "Was. Didn't have any idea this was what Nick was planning." He smiled, wrapping an arm around her. "That's because I'm good." He grinned causing the other three to laugh. "Sure ya are." Lis said shaking her head. Han danced slowly with Brian, "You know this is so deja vu." she said, staring into his eyes. He smiled, "What is?" he asked, pulling her closer. "Well the party, us dancing...if Nick and Lis fall on each other again I'll be worried." Brian laughed, "That was a kodak moment. Too bad we didn't have a camcorder then." She sighed, "Yeah." "What is it Han?" he asked concerned, seeing her eyes cloud over. "I just wish this was the start of our summer, not the end of it." Lis sat at the table, picking at her potato chips. Nick walked over and lifted her feet off his chair. "You look deep in thought." he said, putting her feet across his lap. "I am and I'm not." she smiled, "So was this the big plan for the day?" Nick looked around, "Part of it." Lis leaned forward, "You up to something else?" He grinned coyly at her, "That my dear is for me to know and you to find out." She threw her head back and groaned, "Not another Nick Carter surprise." "Just have to wait and see." Brian wrapped his arms around Han's waist as they swayed to the music. She smiled and turned her head to look at him, "This is a nice way to spend our last Florida night." He kissed her neck, "Who said this was going to last all night?" "Its not?" "Nah this is only the preliminary festivities. The others will clear out soon, and me and you will go somewhere special." She turned around to face him, "What exactly is on that mind of yours Littrell?" He gave her an innocent look, "Are you insinuating I'd plan something?" "Oh yeah." Jenn sat down next to Aimee, "So you think Lis and Han know something's up?" "If they don't they will when we all start to clear out of here." Ang nodded her agreement, "Definitely be hard to miss eleven people suddenly disappearing." "Thirteen," Jenn corrected, "Bri's pulling Han out of here too." "Right." Aimee said, "Just hope everything goes well tonight." she said glancing at the two couples. "Should." Ang said. "Gonna be hard on Nicky and Rok tomorrow that's for sure." "That's why their going out of their way tonight." Aimee said, getting to her feet. "Guess I'll be the first one to disappear. Night guys." Next: Chapter 50 |
