Chapter 44

She shut the door and Han started getting comfortable in the back of Nick's Durango. Brian would be driving the second leg of the way back to Florida and her and Lis were switching sides so they could see their boyfriend better. Lis set her bottle of Pepsi down and looked at Han. "Do you find it odd Nick and Rok broke so quickly?" she asked.

"Not really. I mean I think Brandon and Boyd's appearance kinda worried them...they don't want to push us back to them. At least that's what I think."

Lis looked out the window where she could see the guys still at the picnic table. "Something just seems weird."

"Your paranoid, just like Nick." Han replied.

"This time I hope so."

Jenn leaned back in her seat, tossing down the new magazine she had just bought. "You know...I'm really tempted..."

Krys turned around. "Do not say to talk to them!"

"No not that..." Jenn paused. "What if we had drove as a group of girls? Force all the guys to go by themselves."

Krys' eyes lit up. "I like! But we don't have anything to drive. Ang and Aims are with Ryan in the truck...Kev won't give up his suburban...Nick sure as hell won't let one of us drive his precious Durango."

Jenn sighed, "Then we're stuck..." her eyes searched the small space of the suburban. "What's a little more distance between us and them?" she asked, climbing over the seat.

Aimee leaned against the truck door, her eyes watching the scene in front of her: the girls separated in two separate vehicles and the guys still sitting around talking and laughing. "

Ryan walked over, "What's up?" he asked, passing her a bag of chips.

She smiled. "Thanks, I just keep thinking how stupid this is. I mean first of all, my best friend is sitting over there miserable and I can't even talk to him because of this stupid silent treatment everyone's giving each other. The girls won't give in first because the guys started it all and in Krys' words this morning quote 'I'll be damned if I give them the satisfaction of caving first'. Watch them, they really want to talk to each other you can see it in the way they keep glancing at one another."

Ang walked towards them, after checking in with the girls in the vehicles. "Apparently the silent treatment is still on." she said sadly.

Aimee nodded glumly. "Why don't they all just grow up?" she yelled loud enough for the guys to hear at the table.

Ryan patted her back. "They will soon...I know the guys remember?" he smiled opening the door. "Now lets go before its midnight and we still won't be in the state of Florida."

Brian got in the drivers seat and turned the radio on as Nick slammed the passenger door shut. He adjusted the rear view mirror and looked at the two girls in the back. "Hey! Glad that's over with huh?" he asked as he pulled out of the gas station.

"Oh yeah." Han answered, picking up a magazine and beginning to flip through it.

Nick turned around, studying both girls. If he didn't know better he'd swear they looked almost upset. "You know you two you can stop acting now, we're in the clear."

"You sure?" Lis asked.

Brian pulled out onto the highway, "What happened, did the girls talk you back into ignoring us?" Bri asked.

"No." Han started, "Its just...why did you two cave first?" she leaned forward.

Lis glanced up from her magazine, anxious to hear the answer.

Nick took his baseball cap off and ran a hand through his hair before putting it back on. "I can only speak for me but I was damned if I was gonna let some petty thing keep me and Lis apart the last week or so you two are here. I didn't want us to be glaring at each other across the table and not talking..." he watched as Lis smiled behind her book. "Good enough reason Lissy?" he teased.

"Yeah." She said with a small laugh.

Han turned to Bri, "And what was your reason Rok? Following Nick?"

He shook his head as he drove, "Nah I thought he made a good point...and I mean he's gonna see Lis more then I'm gonna be seeing you most likely so I didn't want the little time we'd have together to be in complete silence."

Howie glanced at Kevin as he drove along. "AJ sleeping yet?" he asked, turning down the radio.

Kev looked in the back seat, AJ was occupying the middle seat and the three girls were all in the back. "Bone's asleep...the girls are all doing something...if looks could kill, Krys would be up for murder right now." he said with a small laugh turning back around.

D laughed, "I think this is killing her almost as much as it is AJ."

"Actually this is kinda killing me too." Kev said slowly. "Not that I'm admitting anything."

"Not at all." Howie said nodding, "Didn't hear anything you said after Krys."

Jenn leaned forward and looked down at AJ sprawled out in the seat ahead of them. "This is so unfair, look how much room he has!"

Krys laughed, "True...but he's slept in smaller spaces before. That boy can fall asleep anywhere."

"You can keep those details to yourself." Nina said with a laugh.

"Your awake!" Krys said smiling at her.

"Yeah...too much sleep and I'll go crazy." Nina moved away from the door she'd been leaning on. "Man they don't make these vehicles to sleep in. I say next time the boys want to go travelling, they take the tourbuses or we don't go."

Jenn smiled in memory, "The bunks...bathroom...a tv! Okay Nina's right...next time we take a tourbus or no go."

Krys nodded as she leaned over the seat, "Hey either of you girls have an eyeliner and lipstick on you?"

"Yeah sure why?" Jenn asked,

Krys sat back down, an evil grin on her face. "Nothing...nothing at all." she said holding her hand out.
