Chapter 4

"Toni!" Kristy typed frantically. "You HAVE to come out this next weekend!! That is, if you want to join me at the Backstreet Boys' concert! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"

Kristy filled Toni in on the details... how these two guys had submitted her story to a contest... how she'd received an email, then a phone call from Denise McLean - AJ's mom and organizer of this PR stunt - saying she'd won. She'd been skeptical right up until the moment she'd gone to the ticket office at the Rose Garden in Portland, where she'd received a pair of front row tickets, backstage passes, and an invitation to a "meet and greet" with the boys. Now she was practically beside herself in anticipation for the next weekend. She didn't know if she'd be able to last until then. She was going to get to meet Kevin and she practically swooned just thinking about it.

"Thanks for being here on time... for once," Denise laughed as she looked around at the handsome faces surrounding her. "First item of business. Tonight after the concert we're flying to Portland for tomorrow night's show. Then you guys have Sunday off and a show in Seattle Monday. You need to decide which nights you want to stay in Portland, which nights you want to stay in Seattle, or if you just want to sleep on the bus after the concert and drive to Seattle Saturday night."

Nick glanced at Brian. Time to put the next phase of their plan into action. "I'd like to stay in one place for more than one night at a time. How 'bout we stay in Portland 'til Monday?"

Brian was about to eloquently state his point to help convince the group when Howie spoke up, "I really liked Portland last time we were there. It's a beautiful city... I could go for staying there this weekend."

Brian smiled. This was working out better than they'd planned.

"I don't know," AJ started, "Seattle has a better night life..." he trailed off, seeing his mom giving him a squelching look. "Or not."

"Doesn't matter to me." Kevin was enjoying how smoothly things were running lately. No fights, no crises, no drama. It was making his life as "big brother" easier. AJ had grumbled that it was getting boring, but boring was fine by him. He was fairly content with his life right now. Although he knew certain things were missing, he wasn't looking for any complications.

"Good, then it's settled!" Brian said, trying to control his grinning.

"OK!" Denise continued. "Next. There will be a private 'meet and greet' before the concert tomorrow night for the winner of a fanfic contest." The guys groaned and rolled their eyes. "I brought you all a copy of the winning story and I EXPECT you to have read it before you meet the author tomorrow."

"Will there be a test?" Brian quipped, playing along with the role as smart ass.

"Yes. So pay attention!" Denise smiled. "I think you'll enjoy it... I know I did! Well, that's all I had. Have a good show."

Kristy stood by the gate, holding a sign that said "Bradygirl" on it, waiting for Toni to emerge.

"Kristy?" A tall pretty brunette with long, curly hair, pale amber eyes, and an easy smile stepped through the doorway.

"Toni!" Kristy laughed and rushed forward to greet her friend. "I'm so glad you could make it!"

"Me too!" Toni grinned, "I'm so excited to be able to talk to you in person... not to mention getting to meet the Backstreet Boys!"

"I knew it. You only love me for my backstage passes." Kristy faked a pout.

"No. I love you for your front row tickets too!" The two women laughed and hugged again, then headed out to Kristy's car.

"Do you really think you needed the sign?" Toni giggled seeing the cardboard in Kristy's hand. "I mean, after reading your story, I would've known you anywhere." Toni smiled at her friend. Shoulder-length blond hair, beautiful blue-green eyes, killer smile, great figure, and a pair of butterfly hairpins holding a small section of hair above her left eye, Kristy looked exactly like Toni had pictured from her story.

"Pretty original of me, huh?" Kristy chuckled.

"Obviously original enough for you to win that contest," Toni laughed.

Kristy smiled broadly, "And now we're gonna get to meet the Backstreet Boys tomorrow!"

Both women grinned and in unison sighed, "Kevin!" and burst out giggling like a couple of teenagers.

"So," Nick asked Brian the next morning, "Do you know if Kev has read the story yet?" They were in the general living area between their two suites. AJ and Howie were across the hall, Kevin a couple doors down.

"He had it with him on the plane last night," Brian smiled. "It looked like he was about where they sing 'From This Moment On' together."

Nick grinned, "Ooh, good part! Then there's the pre-Fantasmic scene right after that!"

Brian laughed and headed to answer the door. AJ walked in and collapsed in an armchair. That "Angel of Music" girl is going to have a whole lotta girls mad at her."

"Why do ya say that, Bone?" Nick asked, confused by his cryptic remark.

"Well, I'm probably gonna be exhausted for the show, 'cause I couldn't put her story down last night!" he grinned as Brian and Nick laughed.

"I know, wasn't it good?" Nick asked, "We were just talkin' 'bout the scene when they were waiting for 'Fantasmic!'"

AJ nodded, "Yeah, good chapter... although not as good as the next couple of the ones at Kevin's house!" he said wiggling his eyebrows.

Brian laughed, "Oh yes... chapters 15 and 17!"

"You mean you know which chapter is which after reading it once?" AJ looked questioningly at the other two. "Hey, then how come you guys don't look tired? Somethin's up. What gives?"

Nick grinned at Brian, "Should we tell 'em?"

"Tell him what?" Howie asked as he walked it. "Did you finish reading that story?" All the guys nodded.

"You?" Brian asked.

"Not quite... I went to bed after chapter 18. But let's just say I had some very nice dreams!" Howie grinned and winked. "So what was Nick going to tell you?"

Brian shrugged and laughed, "Oh, might as well."

Nick started as he got up to lock the door, "This stays between us, OK?"

Brian chuckled, "Where have I heard THAT before?"

Nick grinned, "Frick and I read this story over a month ago and went to Denise with a plan to get to meet Kristy."

"You mean she's real?" AJ sat up suddenly.

Brian and Nick nodded, "We've been emailing back and forth since, under our nick-names of course, and so far everything's just like her character," Brian said. "Same job, same sense of humor, same dreams..."

"Dare we hope she looks as good as she sounds in the story?" Howie asked and blushed slightly. The other three guys grinned and nodded. They'd been thinking the same thing.

"Although, I think it's a mute point...." Brian continued, "The story is about KEVIN, remember? But let's not tell him about our plan, OK? You know how he can get when he thinks we're trying to set him up."

"But we ARE trying to set him up," Nick pointed out.

"And it's for his own good!" Brian laughed.
