Chapter 30

Kevin finished his drink and moved to a nearby table to set it down. Things were going perfectly. Erin was still pissed at him, but he couldn't have cared less. Nick thought he was being a jerk, but it didn't matter to him. The combination of the alcohol he'd consumed and the sexual chemistry between him and Kristy overrode everything else. Tonight was the night.

A couple of guys on the dance floor approached Kevin and Kristy and slapped him on the back. "Way to go, man. That was quite the show you guys put on."

Kevin smirked, joining the other guys in eyeing Kristy as she danced in front of him. "Thanks, but you haven't seen anything yet."

Kristy felt a wave of uneasiness wash over her. What had Kevin just meant?

A new song started and Kristy smiled brightly at Kevin as she danced closer to him. She loved the music this club played everything from the Backstreet Boys and other 90's pop/dance tunes, to disco and 80's. Kevin knew Depeche Mode was a favorite of Kristy's, though the song he'd requested this time - "World in My Eyes" - was much different than when he requested "Somebody" at Royals.

Let me take you on a trip
	Around the world and back
And you won't have to move
	You just sit still

"Did you do this?" Kristy asked, draping her arms around Kevin's shoulders as the words started. Kevin nodded, pulling her close to him so their bodies moved together. He lowered his head and began to kiss her, first leisurely, then with more intensity.

Now let your mind do the walking
And let my body do the talking
Let me show you the world in my eyes

Kristy broke the kiss as Kevin' hands moved down her back to her ass. "Kev," she admonished with a smile as she physically placed his hands back on the small of her back.

Kevin looked contrite and kissed the tip of her nose as they continued to dance. He drew her lips to his for a longer kiss. Kristy moaned slightly as he slipped his tongue deeply into her mouth over and over. His hands caressed her back, then moved lower.

I'll take you to the highest mountain
To the depths of the deepest sea
We won't need a map, believe me

Now let my body do the moving
Let my hands do the soothing
Let me show you the world in my eyes

	That's all there is
Nothing more than you can feel now
	That's all there is

Kristy felt his roaming hands, but didn't break the kiss right away. She heard Kevin's low groan as his hands grasped her ass and pressed her to him. "Kevin!" She pulled away, this time serious about stopping his actions.

Kevin still held her in his arms, and brought one hand to caress the side of her face. "Aw c'mon, Princess." He let his hand graze her neck as he pulled her closer. His fingers traced the exposed skin just above the deep neckline of her dress. "Don't I get to touch what's mine?"

The feminist in Kristy was outraged, but something female in her was strangely aroused. She let herself be pulled to Kevin for a demanding kiss. Soon though she broke it off, as she felt his hand cup her breast. "Honey, we're in public."

"That didn't seem to stop you earlier," Kevin said, his eyes as dark as his expression.

Kristy's eyes searched his. "This isn't like you."

They were the words Kevin had been waiting for. "I've got news for you, sweetheart," he said, his voice laced with sarcasm. "I don't always say and do what you think I should. I'm not some damn character in one of your little stories. If that's who you think I am, then you don't know me."

Kristy felt like she'd been slapped. She knew he wasn't a character, but what happened to their instant connection from the story? "I never said that. And I don't think that." She stepped closer to him. "Please Kevin, tonight's been so nice, let's not fight." She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his shoulder, her face against his neck.

Let me put you on a ship
	On a long, long trip
Your lips close to my lips

All the islands in the ocean
All the heaven's in the motion
Let me show you the world in my eyes

Kevin kissed her forehead and Kristy turned her face up to his. He drew her lips to his and began a slow, passionate kiss. His hands again caressed her back, but this time moved to her sides.

	That's all there is
Nothing more than you can touch now
	That's all there is

Let me show you the world in my eyes
Let me show you the world in my eyes
Let me show you the world in my eyes

Kristy was holding on to Kevin as the song changed and the kiss continued, and felt him holding her close too. His hands settled on her hips, and she sighed as Kevin sucked gently on her tongue. An uncomfortable sensation brought Kristy back to reality. Kevin's fingers bit into her skin as held her hips close to his. She pulled away slightly, but was unable to break the kiss. She brought her hands to Kevin's chest and tried pushed him away. "Kevin, stop," she pleaded softly.

Kevin saw the fear and confusion in her eyes. "Are you telling me 'no'?" he asked, his gaze fierce.

Kristy shook her head. Never before had she even felt the slightest bit intimidated by Kevin, but now she was. "No, I'm just saying we should slow it down."

"You're such a tease," he sneered the last word. "All night - hell, all day - you've been getting me aroused, then you turn around and act all sweet and innocent. Make up your mind, Kristy - cause if you won't give it to me, I can easily find someone who will."

On the side of the club the Backstreet Boys' bodyguards had their hands full. They weren't protecting the Boys from enthusiastic fans - or even hostile non-fans. They were focused on protecting the Boy on the dancefloor from Nick and Erin.

Nick was literally being held back. He'd been watching Kristy and Kevin dance and as their exchanges heated up, so did his temper. Howie and Brian were trying to calm him down. "Guys, I just want to get Kristy out of there... and beat the crap out of him."

Brian shook his head. He was appalled by Kevin's behavior too, but knew Nick would only make things worse by getting involved.

A.J. had his arms wrapped around Erin, who had been equally angry as she watched Kevin mistreat her sister. Now her anger had been replaced by desperation. "Please, SOMEONE get her away from him." Her voice broke with a sob. She knew Kevin had been drinking too much and was truly worried about what he'd do next.

A.J., Brian, and Howie exchanged looks. Howie took charge. "J, take Erin back to the hotel." He was glad Toni had already left with Dennis and most of the others. "Leigh, get Nick outside so he can cool off. Rok and I will stay with Marcus and Nelson and make sure both Kristy and Kevin are okay."

"So, yes or no, Kristy. It's up to you, because I can be with anyone I want."

Kristy felt nauseous. How could he do this? She met his green eyes and raised her chin slightly. "No."

Kevin gave her a dismissive look and turned to a platform a few feet away where a tall blond with a very short leather skirt was dancing. She had been eyeing Kevin throughout the evening, and both Kristy and Kevin had noticed her interest in him. She had obviously been watching the conflict because she was already looking straight at Kevin when he pointed at her. "You, come dance with me."

The girl hopped off the platform and made her way over to Kevin. From a distance Kristy had thought she was fairly attractive, although her clothes, makeup, and hair all were on the sluty-side. Up close, Kristy's opinion was reinforced. The woman draped her arms around Kevin's neck and slid one leg between his, and had one of his legs between hers.

Kristy stood frozen. She'd never been spoken to or treated this way, and while she was hurt and sad, she wasn't about to run away crying. She turned, intense hazel eyes scanning the room.

Kevin may have been dancing - intimately - with another woman, but Kristy still held his attention. He watched as she stepped away from him slightly, but didn't leave as he thought she would have. He saw her look past him and around the room, the smallest hint of a smile touching her lips as her gaze came to rest on something - or someone.

Kristy made eye contact with the man who'd made the earlier comment about Kevin getting laid tonight. He was a tall man - as tall as Kevin, and just as dark. He wore a tight cashmere sweater that showed off a muscular upper body and tailored black slacks... not that Kristy noticed much of this. Her blue-green eyes were locked with his brown ones as she tipped her head ever so slightly to one side. Kevin frowned as she brought her hand to face-level and crooked her index finger, a small smile playing on her full lips. It was the ultimate "come-hither look" - and she knew it.

The man crossed the dancefloor without any other prompting. "Hello. I'm Casey."

"Hi, Casey." Kristy smiled coyly, never looking at Kevin, but knowing he was watching and listening to everything she said and did. "Could I ask you a question?"

"Anything."

"What would you say if I said I wanted to go home with you tonight?"

"I'd say 'when are you ready to leave?'"

Kristy smiled. "Thank you. You just helped me prove my point." She turned back to Kevin with an even stare.

"And what point is that? That all men are sex fiends?" Kevin asked, glaring at the man beside Kristy.

"No. That you're not the only one who can be with whoever they want." With that, Kristy walked off the dancefloor leaving Kevin, his new dance partner, and Casey staring after her.
