A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes Chapter 12 Kristy stood by the limos door, wrapped in Kevins arms while Erin and the rest of the guys climbed into the car. Are you sure you want to do this? Kristy asked. Yeah, Kevin said as his kissed her on the tip of her nose. If we take the limo, we can all just talk and hang out, and none of us have to pay attention to the road. Besides, he grinned, Lets take advantage of some of the perks of this job! Kristy smiled and rolled her eyes, I didnt MEAN the car... Kevin scrunched up his nose, Yeah, I kinda didnt think so. He pulled her closer, kissing the top of her head. Kris, I WANT to see where you grew up... and meet your parents. After all, dont you think theyre gonna want to meet the guy youre gonna be flying out to be with almost every weekend? Kristy raised her head to look at Kevin, and with almost a childlike innocence asked, Really? Kevin smiled broadly at her, revealing his dimples. She reminded him of a kid on Christmas morning, her eyes bright with happiness and anticipation. Kevin nodded and looked deeply into her eyes. Yes! Really, he said and kissed her, a smile lingering on his lips. Kristy gave him a dazzling smile and Kevin felt his heart beat faster. He caressed the side of her face and simply gazed into her eyes, knowing hed found what had been missing in his life. Are you two gonna stand there mooning over each other all day, or can we get goin? Nick asked, impatient to get their mini road-trip started. The guys had decided, much to Kristy and Erins surprise, that they wanted to drive down to their parents house and then head over to the Oregon coast. Kristy giggled, I think the natives are getting restless. We should probably get in the car, huh? Kevin gave her a quick kiss, I suppose. He leaned in for another kiss as Brian yelled from inside the car, She IS coming with us Train! Kristy grinned, kissed Kevin on the cheek and climbed into the luxurious stretch limousine. Erin and AJ were sitting in one corner, exploring the minibar. On Erins other side sat Nick, and Kristy could tell her sister was enjoying teasing the youngest member of the group. As Kristy sat down, Erin looked up at her sister and silently sent Kristy a "I can't believe this is happening" look. Kristy grinned and quirked one eyebrow, wordlessly agreeing. Kevin caught the looks exchanged between the two, watching Kristy, then Erin. His attention turned back to Kristy, "How come I feel like you and Erin just had an entire conversation without the rest of us?" Both girls grinned and they replied in unison, "It's a sister thing!" The five guys froze, looking at the two beautiful women in their presence and each other with a bit of wonderment. "How'd you do that?" Brian asked. "That was kinda cool!" Howie said turning his head to either side to look at each sister. "...Kinda freaky!" Nick said at the same time as Howie said "cool." "Should we be worried about you two? You can't, like, read our thoughts or anything can ya?" Erin turned towards Nick and looked him straight in the eye, her big brown eyes boring deep into his baby blue ones. Nick fidgeted slightly, but didn't break eye-contact while Erin stared more intently, her brow creasing slightly with concentration. The car was silent for several moments as it navigated it's way out of downtown. Erin finally shook her head sadly and sighed with frustration. "Nope. All I'm getting is some Nintendo games and basketball..." she continued, her face serious, "But most of the time it was totally, completely... blank." Kevin coughed to try to cover his laughter, seeing that Nick was looking at Erin with a slightly stunned look on his face. Erin watched Nick and she quirked an eyebrow in a gesture that Kevin recognized from Kristy, a smile tugging at her lips. "Gotcha!" Nick blushed and slumped against the seat, "Oh man, that was kinda eerie. How'd you...?" he turned, "Kristy!" "Oh, like it's that hard to figure out what's on your brain?" Kristy giggled as the rest of the guys laughed. "Can ya guess what I'm thinkin'?" AJ asked. Erin turned to him, studying his face, and staring into his warm brown eyes. She held his gaze and leaned into him, hesitating only a moment before she kissed him purposefully. AJ slipped his hand into her silky fine hair and deepened the kiss. They broke apart, slightly breathless. AJ smiled, "Yep. That's exactly what I was thinkin'."As the limo made its way down the freeway towards Kristy's parents' house, the group listened and laughed as Kristy and Erin exchanged entertaining stories about their family. Kevin and the rest of the guys contributed stories of their own, keeping the car full of laughter and strengthening the new friendships that had been building from the day before.. and had started with the writing and reading of Kristy's story. The guys also learned several things about Kristy and Erin by watching the sisters interact. They were obviously extremely close, and all the guys soon observed what Kevin had noticed earlier... that they shared many of the same mannerism and facial expressions. They also learned that if they were ever playing games, that they should not allow Erin and Kristy to be on the same team. Their family had made that a standing rule for most games, and the guys understood why as they watched the two sisters often complete each other's sentences. "Yeah, we kick butt at 'Taboo'!" Erin giggled. "Everyone gets upset 'cause we can just say the most random things and the other one will figure it out," Kristy finished. Erin nodded, "But most everybody is pretty used to losing at games in our family." Brian's forehead wrinkled, "But somebody has to win." Erin nodded again, and Kevin noticed Kristy was being kind of quiet. "You're right B-Rok," Erin replied, already using the guys' nicknames. "I should say, most everybody except Kristy is used to losing... she ALWAYS wins!" she whined good-naturedly. Kristy pouted, "Kevin she's picking on me!" "Girls. Am I going to have to discipline you?" Kevin asked in his best "dad" voice and demeanor. Kristy grinned mischievously and wiggled her eyebrows, causing Kevin to laugh and give her a kiss. Erin stuck out her tongue at her sister as Kristy snuggled closer to Kevin. "Hey watch how you're using that thing," AJ teased. "Eww," Nick groaned. "Not in front of the kids, OK?" The group laughed and the conversation turned back to their families. "Kris, remember how Dad would try to intimidate our boyfriends in high school?" Erin asked, a smile tugging on her lips. Kristy broke into a huge grin before Erin had even finished the sentence. "Poor guys," she chuckled, "They'd get so nervous!" Kevin and AJ exchanged wary looks, "What exactly would he do to those 'poor guys'?" AJ asked, frowning slightly. "Well," Kristy smiled, "There was the time he came in 'playfully' carrying a baseball bat while Erin and Jeremy were snuggling on the couch," Erin grinned in anticipation of where Kristy was going with the story. "Jeremy jumped up and moved into a chair on the other side of the room, while Dad stood next to Erin and tapped the bat in his hands." Erin snickered, "Or the time he turned the sprinklers on while you and Josh were outside, ahh... 'talking' by his car after he'd driven you home from one of the football games." Kristy bit back a smile as Kevin looked at her apprehensively. "Don't worry, he hasn't done anything like that in years." She put a hand on his shoulder in a comforting gesture. Erin piped in, "Yeah, now he just interrogates them about their jobs and plans for the future!" Kristy and Erin caught each other's eyes and started giggling. Kevin put his arm around Kristy's shoulder, pulled her towards him and looked into her laughing eyes. "Thanks. You're making me feel so much better about meeting him," he laughed. "You don't have anything to worry about. He's really just a big ol' teddy bear once you get to know him," Kristy smiled affectionately at Kevin. "HOW big, exactly?" Howie asked what all five guys were thinking and watched as Erin and Kristy exchanged "a look". "Well..." Erin finally replied, "I guess it depends on who you're comparing him to." "Is he bigger than me?" Brian asked, starting the guessing game. "B-Rok, EVERYONE is bigger than you!" Kevin teased his cousin, causing everyone to laugh with Brian. "Let's just jump to the end... is he bigger than me and Nick?" Erin looked Nick over with a critical eye, then Kevin. "Are we talking separately or combined?" Everyone laughed, although the boys did so somewhat nervously. "What?! It's a valid question," she giggled. "OK... I'd say about the same height as Kevin, but bigger," she gestured to her sides, "In other ways. But he's shorter than Mark." "Mark?" AJ asked. "Our little brother," Kristy explained. "Our very tall, little brother." Nick looked at Kristy and Erin, neither of whom were extremely tall, "How tall?" "Six-five," Erin and Kristy said in unison, smiling as all five guys looked a little shocked. "Oh great, an intimidating father and a bully of a brother," Kevin joked. "Don't worry about either of them," Erin reassured Kevin. Kristy smiled at him as she saw him relax a little. "Mom's the one you don't want to make mad," Erin said with a wicked grin. Kevin turned to Kristy, his eyes wide, "Why's that?" Kristy rolled her eyes and admonished her sister, "Erin, don't tease him!" She turned back to Kevin, "Mom's funny and wonderful and sweet... unless you hurt one of her kids. Then she can hold a serious grudge!" "Well in that case," Kevin said as he pulled Kristy onto his lap. "I really don't have anything to worry about... 'cause I'm never going to hurt you," he said sincerely. Kristy looked deeply into his amazing green eyes and knew she could believe him.Next: Chapter 13 |
