Chapter 11

The feel of a weight on her chest made Kristin wake up the next morning. Disoriented for a few seconds, she soon remembered that she was in Kevin's room, and the dead weight was his arm thrown over her. She rolled over as best she could and gazed at him. God, he looked so vulnerable in his sleep. She wanted nothing more than to wake him with a kiss. But, he needed his sleep, she decided. She smiled and carefully maneuvered herself out of bed.

Once in the kitchen, she started to make a pot of coffee. She felt so different this morning. It was as if knowing that Kevin loved her made her more complete. She felt more alive, like she could conquer anything. From the kitchen window, she saw the pool shining in the morning light. It was such a beautiful day. Being in Florida suited her, she decided. Would she ever be willing to permanently move here? Not now, but eventually yes, she decided.

The phone rang. She grabbed it before it would wake Kevin.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Kristin? Is that you?" a male voice asked.

"It is. Is this Brian?"

"Good guess! How are you? Enjoying your weekend here?"

Kristin blushed. "You could say that Brian."

"You finally got together?? Thank God!" he cried.

"Bri, what makes you say that?"

"I can tell it in your voice. Deny it!" he challenged.

"I can't deny it. But I didn't tell you that. Let Kev tell you for himself."

"It's our secret until he says otherwise. At least I won't have to push you two together any longer."

"You too? What was this, a get Kev and K together thing? Kev told me last night that Mattie was doing the same thing!"

"Mattie too? Great minds think alike!"

Kristin laughed. "If I didn't know you and Leighanne were stuck together, I'd try to set you up with Matts!"

"Set her up with Nick. It'll be more fun!" he laughed.

Kristin pictured the two together. "It would make sense....."

"We'll see what we can do," Brian said. "Anyway, I was wondering what you and Kev were doing today. Leigh and I are bored and it's such a pretty day."

"I don't know if Kev had any plans and he's still sleeping. I would love to do something. Can I have him call you when he gets up?" she asked.

A voice over her shoulder made her jump. "K, I'm up. Can I talk to Bri?"

"Bri," she laughed. "He's right here, hold on."

"Thanks Kristin, and congrats on you two."

"Thanks Bri. Here he is."

She handed the phone to Kevin, who kissed her firmly before talking to Brian. She blushed and grabbed a coffee cup while Kevin worked details out with his cousin.

"That sounds good Brian. We'll meet you at the Magic Kingdom at 11:30. Bye."

Kristin turned with a huge smile across her face. "Disney?"

"Is that ok? We figured that we all needed some good, old-fashioned, childlike fun. Especially you, honey," he smiled.

Kristin threw herself into his arms. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" she cried.

"Not enough. I love you too. Go shower!" he said playfully swatting her on the bottom.

"Hey!" she cried.

"Hay's for horses. Go on sweetie!" he smiled.

Kristin quickly got ready and walked back into Kevin's room. He was in the process of getting dressed. She let out a whistle, seeing him shirtless.

"What's happening hot stuff?" she said, quoting from the movie "Sixteen Candles".

"You're a brat. But I love you anyway. Did I tell you how glad I am that we're finally together?" he asked.

She walked up to him. "Not really."

He pulled her into his arms. "Well I am. I feel more complete knowing you're really in my life."

"I do too," she whispered.

"But we do have a lot to talk about," he said, putting on a shirt.

She sighed. "I know."

"Should we talk now or later?"

"It's going to come up sooner than later. I have to go back tomorrow."

He sat on the bed and she joined him.

"It's hard, K. Ask Leighanne or Amanda. We travel so much, and there's a lot of trust involved. We can't watch you every second and you can't watch us. Yes, there are girls all over us everywhere we go, and we can't control that. But K, we're faithful to our girlfriends. I know that once this is all over, the fans may be gone, but you're not.

"You're the one that I come home to. You're the one I'll be thinking about every second of the day. You're the one I love. And I feel awful knowing that you and I are just starting out right before we have to go to Europe to start the tour."

"Oh Kevin, I graduate in two weeks. Am I allowed to come visit while you're overseas?" she asked.

"Of course! You'll find that the other girls will come too," he smiled gently.

"So we'll figure something out. I'll delay getting a job for a little while."

"Don't put your life on hold because of me," he protested.

"Believe me, I'm not planning on that. But I am willing to take a month or two off to make this work. Sacrifices will have to be made."

"You're not going to be the only one making the sacrifices. It takes two people to make a relationship work. I'm more than willing to work too," Kevin said.

"You better Richardson. Now that I've finally got you, I'm not going to let you go."

He hugged her. "We'll make it work, K. I promise."
