The Gleaming Of Silver
by Sabriel Emrys([email protected])
Chapter 9
"Show me the meaning of being lonely
So many words for the broken heart
It's hard to see in a crimson love
So hard to breathe
Walk with me, and maybe
Nights of light so soon become
Wild and free I could feel the sun
Your every wish will be done
They tell me...," AJ sang his heart out as his solo came on, and then he joined into the harmony of the other guys.
Sabriel stood leaning against the back stage wall as she listened. Checking her watch she then turned slightly away and punched in the number to Chivre. The dial tone continued
to ring, but still nothing, except an Operator's voice came on, "We're sorry the number you have reached is disconnected." Immediately, Sabriel closed the cell phone up, with the sound of the recording repeating nonstop in her mind.
Something had started...it now became evident that it began...the battle to survive.
As AJ turned to do a pivot of his dance routine, he caught sight of Sabriel, and saw her talking on the phone, then saw her as she closed the phone up and hit the side of the wall. He almost lost all concentration on the performance, for he stumbled. Just watching the anger that seemed to cross over her face, but it soon disappeared, a mask seemed to be put in place, covering the pain and anger. The other guys didn't seem to catch what he saw, but they still sent him worried glances at his distant mind, that seemed to consume him with concerns, and so many questions that seemed to bubble up out of the deepest corners of his minds.
Once finished with the performance, and listening to the sound of fans going wild over the show itself, AJ couldn't help but feel the adrenaline pump through his body as he bowed to all and walked off the stage. Sweat coated his shirt and clothes, making the silk stick to him even more. Showing off that hard muscled body of his, that seemed to tease any of those of the opposite sex who caught a glimpse.
Sabriel smiled, for she was one of many who did indeed caught a glimpse of the body. And what a body. She forced herself to look happy for their performance, but inside herself she felt the shuddering distaste of bile that rose in her mouth. The uneasy feeling never seemed to leave her stomach, and it gave her the churning feeling of fear and anger. Chivre had been with her
for years and years now, thinking back Sabriel remembered the first time that she and the young man had met, and started to work with one another. He more than watched her back, he gave her information that was helpful in her jobs, and information that was vital on the targets that were selected.
" Pumpkin? This is your new playmate to work with. Make sure you show him the ropes, and make sure he doesn't get into any trouble. Ok?" The old man asked, looking at this young teenage girl, she was growing up so fast, and into her beauty as well. Her mother would be proud. Taking his eyes off of his daughter, he turned to the young man who was just opposite of him, shy
thing that he was, he moved out of the way so his daughter could get full view of the youth.
Sabriel looked on, past the figure of her father, and looked towards the youth that was trying to not so successfully shy away from her. She measured him up, standing at least 5'7" weighing about 140 pounds of slim but lean muscle. He looked her age, mayhaps a couple years younger. Spikey blonde-red hair showed her that he had a wild streak within him, as well as
the one piercing in his ear. Yes, this business would be interesting with him in it. Going up to him, the young Sabriel, reached her hand out, and smiled to him, not afraid of anything...least of all rejection. Putting his own hand out the young man grasped her hand firmly and shook it, offering a mumbled name of "Jonathon Chivre." With mumbled compliances, Sabriel later on taught the young Chivre about everything in her father's business. Things were shady when she had to explain it to him, but they soon became life long friends, there would never be anything but business and family love in their lives. No romance. For being practically brother and sister, and loyal best friends, it was beyond their thought to think of themselves attracted to the other for sex. Later they both soon proved their friendship when they ended both saving each others' lives everyday.
Looking about the stage, teary-eyed, she couldn't help but let a few tears slip from her control, and slide down her cheeks, she turned and walked away, ignoring everything around her, in her mind, somewhere in the back, she knew she was being watched. Turning her head back to glance around she saw no one, except for A.J. giving her worried glances from the concert he and the
band were performing. He loved her. That realization struck her, and she knew, that things in her job, just got complicated for the worse. She had to finish a job, but she also had sufficient funds in her many bank accounts for just such a case as this.
A.J. saw her leave the backstage area close to tears, he smiled thinking that he sang most of this song for her, and wondered if she noticed, but it had to be something else. The nagging sensation in the back of his head kept coming back to poke his mind like a small devil with a pitchfork. After this one last song, he was going to find her, but looking about, he realized he needed to finish this. One step at a time, A.J, ol' fellow, he thought to himself. Doing a pivot and a small slide to the side, he turned to his friends, and they all gave him encouragement as he danced with them.
Later that night, A.J. stumbled upon Sabby, she was in the back alley of the arena, crying her eyes out, while sitting, her legs pushed up towards her chest. For the first time, A.J felt like he needed to protect her, she seemed so fragile, who would have thought with her strength she'd be caught vulnerable. She was, and he felt apprehension to whomever caused her this much pain to break the shell of strength. It was a cold night, looking up to the sky, he saw the many dark clouds insist on ready to break over them, taking his coat off, he tucked it around her small form, and picked her up. Looking down to the crying form, he held her just as close to protect her from anything and everything that might break her. In his arms, she felt
more like a woman, even with her strength broken, he couldn't help but picture the many erotic images of her in his arms. Instead he pushed those images back and started to walk through the open door, with Lou and the guys waiting he walked past their surprised reactions at the sight of her crying and broken, and went onto the tour bus.
