Chapter 1

It was an ordinary scheduled day of concerts and rehearsals, when Nick started to dance to the beat of "Bad Boy". Looking around he could not help but smile to himself. Every time he turned to the audience, girls screamed as they looked at the blue-eyed hunk. Perspiration dripped from his brow, making him slick back his blond hair. Yeah it was a good life, although busy, he had his family, his friends and band-mates, fans that wanted his every being, and his angelic voice that got him this far. Everything was perfect. Little did he know, that beyond the lights, and on the catwalk someone lay hidden with a nice .99 automatic. Light bounced off the 9 mm bullets that gleamed, as they were put into the cartridge cap. Jamming it into the cap, she smiled, satisfied with the "click" as it locked into place. Screwing on the silencer, she smiled as she felt it fit into place, then looking down at the Backstreet Boys, watching as they danced, she thought what a shame, yet she knew it was her job to get rid of the target once money was put into her accounts. She listened for awhile at the music, she couldn't help but tap her foot to the beat.

As she felt the gun slide perfectly and comfortably in her hand, she couldn't help but feel the nice silky feeling of the plutonium steel of the gun. Cocking it in her hand, she held her arm out slightly, and squinted her left eye, to see if her aim was correct. She looked at the back of Nick Carter's blond head. "Too bad his head isn't worth so much, or I could've know him." She thought to herself, yet she knew better, and shaking her head, letting the blue and red locks fly in her face. "Honestly, Sab, you have a job to do," she murmured to herself. Then looking back, to check her aim, she pulled the trigger.

Too late, Nick moved away just in time, as the bullet wheezed past him; only a millimeter off from it's supposed "mark". The bullet may not have hit it's mark, but it did have to go somewhere, and that's when the high volume speaker, closest to Nick, blew up in a shower of sparks. That's when the screams started, as a wave of panic ripped through the audience. Cursing to herself, Sab looked down and watched as the audience screaming with panic, ran here and there, trampling one another, as they exited. She watched as bodyguards, and security guards, try to calm everyone down, and watched as they never succeeded.

Nick stuttered on a lyric, as he felt something go past his head. Glancing about, he watched as if in slow motion as the speaker closest to him blew up. Showering him in sparks, too stunned to do anything, he couldn't help but shield his face, waiting for the pain to start. But it never did, looking up he watched in horror as Lou, his bodyguard, shield him of the most potential danger. Nick stood, rooted to the spot as he watched Lou twitch a little bit. He didn't hear as someone yelled, "GET THEM OUT OF HERE!!!" He didn't even feel as his buds, pulled him away, or see the guards surround them. The next thing he remembered was letting a darkness surround him and sinking in oblivion. He was later told that he went into shock, and was carried to the limo, and then into the Hospital. That explained why he was in his own little Hospital suite, that was full of flowers and "Get Well Soon" cards.

"How you feeling Frick?" Brian asked him.

"Fine Frack. What am I doing here?" Nick answered, looking at him worriedly.

Brian looked at him, eyes wide, "You mean you don't remember?!"

"No....uhhh....my head hurts." Holding his head as he looked around the room.

"That's because while carrying you, AJ accidentally bashed your head into the doors of the ER. Heh." Brian answered him, helping him sit up.

"Remind me to do that to him. Got any Tylenol?" Nick asked him, holding his head.

"No, but hold on, I'll get the nurse." Brian went out in the hall and went to the Nurses' Station and told them his buddy was up. Walking back in, he saw Nick getting dressed.

"Woah! What are you doing?! You're in no condition of getting dressed or getting out of that bed!"

"You're starting to sound like my mom, Frick." He looked at his friend, with a crooked smile on his face.

"Shuttup! Get back in that bed!" He goes over and is about to grab him and drag him back to the Hospital bed, when in walks the other guys.

"Uhhh....are we interrupting something?" AJ asked, wiggling his eyebrows, as he looks down at Brian on top of Nick.

"No-," Brian stuttered.

"DOG PILE!!" screamed Aaron, and gets on top of Brian.

"Oof. Get off of me Brian, you're heavy." Squeaked Nick.

Aaron gets off of Brian, and Brian gets off of Nick, as Kevin, Howie, and AJ laugh. A young woman in a white coat enters on the scene, and raises an eyebrow at them.

"I am Dr. Meridian, it has come to my attention that since Mr. Carter is up and walking he can go now."

They all look up at her, and Kevin slaps Nick on the back. "Hear that, you can leave."

She checks them over, "You guys look fine, as for Lou-."

But she was interrupted by a gruff voice, "is fine and dandy.." There stood Lou, with a bandage on his arm. Before he could say anything else, the guys were asking him questions a mile a minute. "Yes, yes, I'm fine, lucky fer me I wasn't close as I was to that thing. Now kiddies, say "thank you" to the nice lady doctor and follow me out."

They follow him out, but before they do, Dr. Meridian gives Nick a prescription, "Take these pills twice a day, they'll help with the pain in your head." She looks at AJ, who tries to look innocent, and then they walk out, Aaron in the lead, AJ at the end, quiet.

"Shit!" Looking at the speaker, Sabriel put a finger on the hole where the bullet entered, and looked at the angle that it came from. Then standing on the spot Nick stood, she calculated in her head, where she should've been.

Cursing as she pulls out her tools, she gets some tweezers and before she starts to work on the speaker, she looks around. The place was crawling with news media looking for the story to anchor in on. Looking back at the short-circuited speaker, "OK. Time to get rid of evidence." Sabriel said to herself, as she takes the tweezers and a couple of other items, and pulls out the bullet. And then starts to work on the speaker itself, now that she has the bullet hidden in her many pockets.

AJ looked at his little buddy sleeping, and walked over to get his keys. He didn't believe in "accidents" where he was concerned, besides he wanted a good long look at that speaker. Finally deciding what to do, he looked at his friend and opened the door. Walking down the hall, he opened a door, and threw the apartment keys at Howie.

"Your turn to watch him." And without saying anymore, he left the hotel, and hopped into his red BMW and drove off to investigate. Parking his car in a nice spot away from fans, he got out, and once the crew saw who he was they let him go on in. He got on the stage and he started to go towards the speaker, when his eyes widened, and he saw someone crouched over the speaker, fixing it. Moving quietly over, his eyes widened as he saw who it was. That it was like looking at a more feminine part of him, in a blue crew uniform, she had a slender body. Blue and orange locks cascaded down to her shoulders, showing a little bit of the black hair that was her own color. With tools fit for a surgeon, he watched silently as she fixed the speaker. He looked her over and saw that she had two earrings in her earlobe on each side, and two others going up the rim of her left ear. Though there were three in the other, she had a silver stud in her nose as well. AJ couldn't help but stare, looking her up and down more, he saw she wore black combat boots, almost matching his, although smaller than his feet. God, but she was a sight! AJ just stared, it's all he could do, when his feet seem rooted down to the spot. It was the probably the first girl he actually did not act calmly around. "I want her," he whispered to himself.

Sabriel heard the whisper, and turned around and there stood the most gorgeous guy she'd ever lay eyes on. Being 6'1" herself, this guy looked a couple inches taller, maybe 6'4". Bright blue hair gleaming on his spikes, his goatee was black, showing his true hair color. In each ear he had earrings one in each ear, pretty big for a guy. He wore a yellow and black jacket, with black WL jeans, and a white shirt under the jacket. Even his boots matched hers! Sabriel couldn't help but wolf-whistle. "Ouch! H-O-T-T! HOTT!" She mumbled to herself.

AJ heard her mumble and he couldn't help, but smile. "That's right," he told her as he kept looking her over. He watched as she cracked a smile, "And not only to myself, but back at you, Sailor." He smiled, and walked smoothly to her, sweating because of the nervousness he felt, meeting someone like her. She glanced down at her tools and put them up. He moved his glasses down and looked at her. "So what are you doing, working for us-." His mind wandered off, as he felt his brown eyes drawn into her hazel ones. He glances down and looks at her shirt, with the name tag on it.

"Sabriel? An odd name."

"Sab or Sabby for short, if you will. And I am here, fixing the speaker."

"Oh k." He looked over her shoulder while still flirting with her. He tried to get around her, but the Master of Strategy had finally met his match.

Sabby, met his offense with defense as he tried to get around her, to look at the speaker. Then to both of their surprise they were in each other's arms.

Bright hazel eyes, met brown ones. AJ looked into Sabby's eyes, can't believing he met someone as wild as him. Sabby put her hand on the back of his neck, AJ put his hand on her cheek, feeling the smoothness of her alabaster skin. Their heads came together, and Sabby kissed his chin, lips seeking lips, they kissed deeply.

AJ sucked on her lips, as she moved her tongue over his teeth, and then slipping her tongue into his mouth to explore. Her arms wrapped around his neck, AJ slipped his hands down and grabbed her ass. Her ass seemed to be made for his hands. The both broke the kiss at the same time, to get a breather. She looked at him, "Wow."

AJ broke the silence and whispered to her, "Yeah."

She looked at him, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "By the way name's Sabriel "Sabby" Emrys." He smiles, "Nice to me you Sabby, name's AJ. AJ McLean." Smiling at one another, she kisses up and down his jawline.

"Mmmm." AJ kisses her again, this time drawing her close. Her body pressed against his.

"AHEM!!!" Jumping the two, come apart and look at Brian.

"AJ, man, quit hogging the babes."

When AJ turned and was about to say something to him, Brian saw the girl he just saw his bud kiss, and his mouth dropped open. AJ smiles at Brian and felt something pressed into his hand, looking back, Sabby was gone.

"WOW! The speaker is fixed!! Hey what do you got there?" Brian asked trying to look over his friend's shoulder.

AJ looked down and uncrumbled the piece of paper to see what's scribbled on there.

Sabby E.
555-3740

"Hey, where did she go?" Brian looked around. Looking at the slip of paper, AJ smiled and turned. Not knowing that he left Brian behind calling his name, hopping into his car he drove off, heading towards the hotel.
