Wishing On Nothing Chapter 10 "Whoa! Are you ok?� Nick asked me. �Yeah I�m fine.� I said as he helped me off the ground. �What�s wrong?� He asked. �You don�t want to love me trust me.� I said worriedly. �How do you know that I won�t be different than Keith?� Nick asked a little mad. �I just don�t think I can handle all of that again.� I said trying to avoid his stare. �You don�t know until you give it a try.� Nick said. �If I was willing to then I would but I�m not.� I said. �Why not?� He asked. �Why must you always ask the most difficult questions and always expect an answer? I mean come on Nick. No is no. You have your girlfriend anyway. Just forget me. Everyone else always does.� I said looking right at him for the first time that day. I never noticed how blue his eyes were until I was looking right into them. They were like the ocean and left me speechless. �Are you ok?� He asked bringing me out of my trance. �What?� I asked. �You were staring at me weird.� He said laughing a little. �No, I wasn�t.� I said looking down at my hands. �Yeah come on admit it!� He said nudging me. �Ok fine, you have the most intriguing eyes.� I said quietly. �Is that a compliment from you?� He asked laughing. �Shut up!� I said pushing him backwards. �So she does have a sense of humor under her shell.� He said. �Yeah I melt in your mouth not in your hand too.� I said sarcastically. �She even knows how to make jokes!� He yelled. �Well, when provoked by someone who acts like a three year old then I can.� I said laughing at him. �I do not act like that!! But Brian does!� Nick said as Brian and Marg came into the room. �Did I just hear my name?� Brian asked. �Uhhh no.� I said trying not to laugh. �Alllrighty then how come I know you are lying?� He asked. �Because I am.� I said busting out laughing. Nick, Marg, and Brian just laughed at me. �Oh my god!! I can�t believe it! Someone grab a camera!� Cassie yelled coming into our laughter party. �What?� Marg asked. �Mack is smiling!! That rarely happens! It�s about damn time, though.� Cassie said. �I was acting like a three year old so she thought it was funny!� Nick said. �Oh she would too.� Cassie said. �No that�s not why I was laughing. I was laughing because I find myself funny not you silly.� I said and we all just went at it again. �I don�t think Mack has been this socialable in years.� Cassie said. �Yeah well I�m surrounded by people I care about.� I said looking right at Nick. He gave me a smile and a small wink. As I got to thinking then I realized something. No matter where or what life does to you, you will always be who you were at the beginning. You could undergo a drastic change but you have your same old self underneath. I guess I wasn�t wishing on nothing exactly. More or less wishing and not realizing I had it all right in front of me. I was someone I just had to remember how to be her again. And for once I had found my prince and I had no help from the stars. |
