Sunset Chapter 3 The next day I was at the Scoop Shop for Nick. I waited for an hour, he never showed. I went home and called his house. Ring Ring �Hello?� The person on the other end said. I think it was his mom. �Hi. Is Nick there? It�s Jem.� �Yeah. Hold on.� Hold hand over phone and yells �Nick! Phone! It�s Jem!� �I got it!� He said barely audible. �Hello?� �Nick, I waited at the Scoop Show for over an hour. What�s going on!?!?� �Jem....I...� �Nick are you O.K.?� �No.� �I�ll be right over. Bye.� Click I ran over to his house and rang the bell. Aaron opened it, Nick� little brother. �Where�s Nick?� �Upstairs. Why? Are you Jem? �I need to see him and yes!� �Come on.� �Thanks.� He led me upstairs to where Nick was in bed looking like he was asleep. I went over and sat on the bed near his head. He woke up. �Jem?� �I�m here. What�s wrong?� I asked. �I have a sore throat, a headache, I�m nauseated, and all around not feeling well.� �Shh. Just relax. Go to sleep.� �All right.� He fell asleep and I kissed him on the forehead. �He�s got to get better soon if he�s going to perform� His mom told me. She was standing at the door and saw and heard the whole thing. �I know.� I told her. �Would you mind taking care of him?� �No, I wouldn�t mind.� �Good. I�m really to busy and B.J., Lesley, Angel, and Aaron can�t.� I looked at her with a worried expression on my face. �Here�s some tea. When he wakes up could you give it to him?� �Yeah. Sure� �Thanks. Now I can see why Nick really likes you.� I just sat there running my fingers through his hair. He was so pale. He had no color in his face and was paler than me even though he has a tan base and I don�t. Despite the fact he�s 6�3� he looked so small. About an hour later he woke up. �Nick your mom gave me some tea for you. Could you sit up and try to drink it?� �Yeah.� He started to sit up and I slid in behind him to give him something to lean against. Also so he didn�t have to slid up. I got the cup of tea and gave him the cup keeping my hand on his to steady it. His mother told me she thought he was sleeping in. Until it was 12:00 and he still wasn�t up. He had told her where he was going with me yesterday. He hadn�t had anything to eat or drink since yesterday at dinner. He finished the tea and I put the cup on his nightstand. �Do you want me to move so you can lay down?� �No, it�s O.K. Jem. I like you there.� �Your voice is O.K.� �Yeah, the tea coated it. It still hurts though.� �Don�t try to talk. I�m here and I�ll get you anything you want. O.K.?� �How about a kiss on the lips?� �Fine.� I slipped out from under him and leaned over and kissed him on the lips. As I did he put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. It wasn�t just on kiss it was a few. He pulled me over to the other side of the bed, turned on his side and continued to kiss me. After a while he kissed me on the forehead and laid down and just looked at me. �You have the most beautiful eyes I�ve ever seen. I knew that from the moment you turned around.� �Thanks Nick. Your really sweet.� �Jem?� �Hmm?� �I think I�m falling in love with you.� I was staring at him not knowing what to say. I had just met him 3 days ago. I realized that I think I was falling in love with him too. I didn�t know what I was feeling. �Nick, I...I...� �Shh. It�s O.K. You don�t have to say anything. Come here.� He put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. He put my head on his chest and then put his arm down by my waist on my back. I could hear his heart beat, I could feel me drifting off, I finally fell asleep. |
