Peas and Carrots Chapter 23 I was sitting on my bed, fuming, when I heard a soft knock on my door. I looked up to see Nick. He had his hands behind his back for some reason, and a devilish grin. �What? I�m in a bad mood now, if you can�t see, so if you would kindly-� �I know why you�re mad, and I�m sorry your mom thought something was going on in there, but we both know that nothing happened, since we were both there. Why don�t you just let it drop?� interrupted Nick as he walked over t my bed where I was sitting, hands still behind his back. �Fine, I�ll try to cheer up, but no promises,� I said a little gloomily. �What�s behind your back?� �This? Oh, it�s nothing,� he said as he shifted slightly so that I couldn�t see it from the angle I was sitting at. �You have something behind your back, so just tell me what it is!� I laughed as I tried to reach around him. He turned his body to the left so I missed whatever he had back there. �What is it? Just show me, please?� I pleaded. Pretty please? With sugar on top? And a cherry?� �I�m sorry, but I just can�t tell you, � he replied, swiveling around again as I tried to reach around his body. �Oh just tell me! I�m going to find out sooner or later, you know.� And with that, I stood up on top of my bed so maybe I could see over him and see what he was hiding from me. Instead of swiveling like usual, he just leaned back a little. Just enough so that I couldn�t see it. I kept peering over, getting closer to him, but he just kept leaning back further. Nick had to stick his legs out to balance himself so he wouldn�t crush whatever he had. �Nick just show me what it is, or I�ll give you a nuggie!� I threatened. Obviously it wasn�t too menacing, because he just looked up at me with his crystal blue eyes and laughed at me. I decided I had had enough.
