Peas and Carrots Chapter 11 "Get off me, you big ox. You're cutting the circulatoin off of my legs," I said, squirming around again, trying to get him off of me. It was pretty hard to move with him sitting on top of me, and with him pinning my arms down to the ground. He just laughed at me and sat there for a few more seconds, then he started tickling me, and I'm REALLY ticklish, I'll tell you that. I started squirming even more, and laughing so hard I was crying and couldn't breathe any more. Nick finally got up off of me and helped me up. My sides were still hurting from laughing, so I couldn't run after him very well when he took off again. I sat down in the sand and started looking for seashells. Nick wandered back over my way after a bit, slightly out of wind from taking off after helping me up. We had been at the beach for at least five hours, so we figured we should head back home. Besides, we hadn't used much sunblock, so we were both turning a lovely shad of red. It didn't hurt now, but I knew it would hurt in the morning when we woke up. We walked over to Erik who was sitting in a lawn chair in the shade with a magazine in his lap. He had fallen asleep a bit ago, and was snoring slightly. Nick nudged him as I put the beach towels and snorkle gear in the back of the car and shut the trunk. Erik woke up, looked around, blinked a couple times and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He asked us if we had a good time. "Oh, that's the most fun I've had in a long time," I replied, smiling. "Yeah, we had lots of fun together. I just wish that you could stay here with us forever, or at least move down to Florida near us." Nick put his arm around my shoulders and gave me a little half-hug. "I wish I could do that, too, but I don't think it's work, since Mom's got this great job up in NY, and I don't think she's want to leave it. Plus, I'd have to say by to all of my friends, and that would be so hard for me since I've known them almost as long as I've known you," I replied to him as we loaded up into the vehicle and headed off. "Speaking of my friends, Lacey and Brittany didn't believe that I was really going to come here and meet yu, so they made me promise to bring some pictures back of you and me together." "Ah, we can do that soon enough," Nick said as he brushed some of his hair out of his eyes. It was starting to look a little long and shaggy to me. "Hey Nick, you need a haircut really bad. I think my hair's longer than yours," I laughed. "Well, I keep meaning to get it cut, but I never do, or have the time for it." "I could cut if for you. I do it all the time for my mom when she needs a trime, and I used to do it for my older brother before he moved to college." "I didn't know you had an older brother," Nick said, kind of surprised. "Well, right before you moved, her was in the 7th grade, and he was always off with his stupid friends doing stuff like playing football or something like that, so he was almost never home." "Ah, I see. Well, okay, you can cut my hair, but if it looks bad, well, I don't know, but I'll be mad," he said with a grin. "No, you won't, because it won't look bad," I said, matter-of-factly. "We can only hope."Next: Chapter 12 |
