Stolen Kisses Chapter 4 There she was, across the room. All other women there paled in comparison. She walks in beauty like the night, he quoted under his breath. He watched as she spoke animatedly with another woman. Her laughter reached his ears and he knew instinctively that she was acting. AJ wanted nothing more than to come up behind her and to whisper in her ear that they could run away right then, right there and never come back. They could create their own Eden and live in perfection the rest of their lives, perfectly lost in love, with not another thought of men like Justin who simply used her. But he did not move toward her. What he was most afraid of was that she would turn her baby blues toward him and smile a fakely sweet smile and deny that she had any idea what he was talking about but could he please leave such forward suggestions at the door? So he stayed where he was. As he stood there Justins voice caught his attention. It seemed as though the younger man had had a tad bit much to drink. His voice was a little too loud and his laughter even louder. AJ joined the circle. "AJ! Good to see ya!" Justin greeted loudly. AJ nodded politely. "Same." He murmured. "Check out THAT honey over there." Justin grinned lecherously at a blonde bombshell across the room who looked to be more style than substance. "Dont you have your own honey?" one of the guys in the circle asked. "Right over there." Another one pointed, almost leering. "What I wouldnt give to bang her." Justin shook his head. "no, you know what you are looking atgentlemen? You are looking at the Ice Queen. The woman is frigid. Even McLean here wouldnt do her." Everyone erupted in raucous laughter at this. AJs polite smile turned dangerous, his brown eyes flashed and he began clenching and unclenching his fists. It was taking all his will power not to deck the prick right there. A comforting, almost diffusing hand fell on his shoulder. He turned and smiled gratefully at Howie. Justins statement had confirmed what he already knew. He knew nothing about his girlfriend. Frigid? Never. Anything but, in fact. She was incredibly responsive and somehow knew instinctively what he needed when he needed it. But she was more than a body and he doubted Justin knew that either. Before they were ever physical lovers they were friends. Countless hours had been spent discussing literature and music and life in general. It never ceased to amaze him how much she knew. Why in hell was she still with that prick? Didnt she know that he would take her in in a heart beat? He was the one she confided her fears in, the one who helped her lose them, the one who helped her plant the roses and orange tree, the one who bought the books on how to care for them, and so much more. He was the one who was always there for her mentally, emotionally, and physically. Yet he would not ask her to leave Justin for him. He would not push her. When the time came she would come to him on her own. Until then he would wait with her. Justin caught his attention again, boasting of conquests. Howie, God bless him, stepped in. "Arent you worried shell get tired of you cheating and leave?" he asked quietly. The platinum blonde sneered. "She wont leave me. Ever. She doesnt have the guts to do it."Next: Chapter 5 |
