Stolen Kisses Chapter 2 Bored, AJ turned on the TV. He groaned when MTV flickered on, revealing five men singing in a music video. A memory of the friendly rivalry between the groups surfaced. A rivalry that had ceased to exist. N Sync was still moderately teeny bopper pop while BSB had crossed over, almost entirely, to adult contemporary and R&B, a change which suited AJ just fine. His gaze followed the man singing lead; an artificial blond who looked not much different at 22 than he had at 17. "Asshole." AJ hissed, eyes narrowing with hatred. "Fucking bastard." He remembered well the afternoon she had come to him regarding Justins infidelity. No tears sparkled in her pretty blue eyes. No anger tinged her voice. There was only the flat, dullness of acceptance. "Hes cheating on me." "How do you know?" He wasnt about to dispute the knowledge. He knew better than that. "Ive known for a while." She replied. "They dont look me in the eyes, the other guys I mean. They know what hes doing and dont want to look at me, afraid Ill see the guilt written there. What they dont know is that I DO see. I DO know." "Why are you still with him?" It was a question he would ask many times and not once would she answer. She only smiled sadly. It was not long after this that they became lovers, and he never pushed for more than what she was willing to give. AJ clenched his jaw, still watching the video. Do you remember last summer? he silently asked the almost haughty looking man. Do you remember seeing her in my car? I dont think you have a clue just what she does. I dont think you have a clue who she really is. The younger man tossed one more smoldering look at the camera before the video ended. "Cruelly handsome." Heather had once described him. Immediately following that statement AJ had asked if he hit her. An almost shocked look had crossed her face and she had informed him that words sometimes hurt more than punches. "Bruises go away," Shed told him. "but words keep coming back and hitting you over and over." They had had many conversations concerning Justin, some angering AJ and some that made him feel like crying. "Im a possession." She had told him once. "Im nothing more to him than an accessory, a pretty ornament like his earrings or watch or necklace." The bitch of it was that she was right. He KNEW she was right. Yet she was still with the ass. Fool, he scorned the other man mentally, you dont know what you have.Next: Chapter 3 |
