Meadow Girl Chapter 9 Kevin stared, open mouthed at Lily. Who, was awake and seemingly beating on the very unconcious Brian. It took Kevin and Nick a few moments to figure out that machines beeping uncontrolably was a bad thing. They Quickly ran to his side and pulled Lily away from Brian. Nick thought she was trying to kill him. Soon nurses and doctors flooded the room and the race to keep the ever weaker Brian began, they too were amazed by Lily's consciousness but had no time to ask and investigate. She was in no condition anyway. Brian was the main concern of the doctors. And soon as they worked, the beeping of the machines got slower and slower until they were slow enough to be a good thing. But Lily was still frozen with fear in the corner of the room, beside her was Kevin, holding her by the arms to keep her away from Brian, although now that he was safe there was no need to struggle back to him. Nick had left the room, he was never one for the terror of a crisis, who is? Life slowly began to creep back into the two frightened faces in the corner, enough life to ask questions anyway. Questions filled Kevin's mind, thousands of them, maybe millions. He looked away from the doctors and nurses huddled in front of a bed, hiding their critical patient. He turned his head slowly toward Lily. His face met hers, eye to eye and Kevin felt an immediate peace with her eyes, and her face. They were friends in a glance. He opened his mouth to ask a question but a finger to his lips stopped him, he looked at Lily confused, but not anxious or eager to wonder why she had stopped him. Lily took a quick look at Brian and looked into the eyes of Kevin. She nodded at him then smiled a dopey smile. "I have to go now" She explained. "I will take good care of him.... "WHERE? where are you going?, who are you taking care of? " Shhhhh." She soothed him. "I will answer your questions soon enough." And with a glance back in his eyes she answered the important questions in his eyes, but left the ones about Brian a secret. It wasn't time for her to tell anyone yet, she had to go. "Lily whats going on?" He still managed to ask. Lily gave him an answer with her eyes like , Haven't you gotten it yet, but it quickly faded and she replied "I saved him... He was dying and I saved him. I came back to save him and now I must go back." She said smiling. "He's calling me." Kevin saw in her eyes that more than half of her was in another world, she was fading ever quickly. Maybe she is delerious, he thought. "I'm not delerious." She wispered. Now Kevin was really dumbfounded. But he could ask nothing, for she was to far gone. Drifting softly away in his arms. Drifting back to the Meadow, with Brian. |
