Whenever You Call Chapter 14 Kevin knew exactly where he would find Mariah. Once he arrived at the doorway to the music room, he could only watch and listen as his whole body was mesmerized by the music she played. Mariah was unaware of Kevin's presence because she was so focused on her music. Once she finished the first song, she began a second. Toward the end of her performance, Kevin had gathered the inner strength he needed and appeared beside her. The last note reverberated through the room while he leaned down wrapping his arms gently around her shoulders. "You play so beautifully," he whispered in her ear. Mariah turned and glanced into his eyes causing Kevin to lose the courage he'd worked so hard to find. Just as he was about to give up any hope of ever confessing his feelings, he had an idea. He sat beside her on the bench and started to play...and sing.Love wandered inside The song meant so much to him when he had heard Mariah Carey and Brian McKnight sing it. He could only pray that she would understand that this song represented their relationship better than he could ever say. He wanted her to understand exactly how much he loved her. And I won't ever be too far away to feel you When Kevin finished, Mariah's right hand reached out to caress his left cheek. Her touch sent a shiver through his body. He finally turned to her. Her eyes were wet with tears but even that couldn't disguise what he saw in their depths. He smiled and leaned toward her. Their lips touched briefly at first then again - this time deeper and more lingering. Kevin leaned his forehead gently against hers and taking both her hands, murmured, "Stay with me?" "Kev, I -." She glanced down. "Isn't it too soon?" He used his left hand to lift her face and even their gaze once again. "I don't mean just for tonight, Riah...I mean for always. Stay with me...here." Kevin took her left hand in his and placed them both over his heart. Mariah fought a battle within as she pulled away from him, rose and walked over to the window. Too fast, she thought. We're moving too fast. I've known him for more than six months, but God, I only met him face-to-face tonight. What if he isn't what I've thought and dreamed him to be? He just seems so sincere. And I've never known a person to be so sweet, so giving. It just feels so right to be with him, to hold him, to kiss him. I know I love him more than anything...but... Kevin sensed her hesitation as he followed her. Standing behind her, he wrapped his arms lovingly around her torso. "I know what you're thinking. We only met tonight, but we've know each other for six months. "I don't know how much you believe in fate or destiny, but something or someone made me dial that six. I believe we were meant to be together. That we were meant to find each other. Remember that I told you that we hadn't crossed paths with our soulmates yet...I was wrong because you are my soulmate. He sighed and tightened his embrace and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I can't begin to tell you how strong my attraction is to you. I can't tell you what hearing your voice does to me. Our conversations...I thought nothing could mean more. Now I found that something does, I have found that being in your arms, looking into your eyes, being in your presence is more amazing. It makes my life seem more complete. More than I can ever say..." Kevin moved in front of her so he could see directly into the depths of her eyes. "...I love you." Mariah's left hand rested on his chest while her right reached up to caress his cheek. "I love you, too, Kev." They kissed again tenderly. When they separated, Kevin wore a knowing smirk. "What?" Mariah asked softly. "I was just thinking...about the movie Jerry Maguire." He grinned again as he read the confusion on her face. "It took one word. Hello. You had me from that moment."
