The first completed West Rail consist of 7-cars was shipped to Hong Kong from Japan in June 2002. It took 3 nights to complete offloading of the 170-m long train from barges at Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal. A total of 154 train cars are being purchased for the West Rail project. The remaining 147 cars will be delivered to Hong Kong in batches with the last consist to arrive in Hong Kong in June 2003.
