Dear KSO members:

 

The 2007-08 KSO organising committee is delighted to share with you the complete details about our first event for this year - Picnic 2007.

 

Date:  July 21, 2007

Time:  10:00 am

Venue: Rideau River park

Parking:  $11 per car.

Admission fee: $5 for non members only. Childern under 12 are free.

Directions to Rideau River Park:  Take Hwy 416, take exit # 42, Right on Dilworth Road, At the next stop sign (approximately 2 kms) take left on to 4th line road, travel five kms and the park is on the left.

Additional info: It is suggested that you please bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, mats/camp chairs for your self and parents are suggested to bring swimwear, towels, life jackets, sand toys, change of clothes, etc. 

 

 Like the preceding years, the format of 2007-08 picnic will include games and lots of time for "catching up".  In order to ensure that everyone has the energy to keep the day going, this year's menu will be varied and will cater to the needs of our children who may prefer to grab a bite while playing.

  

The picnic will commence at 10:00 am with games for youngsters and the young at heart.  Our youth coordinators Shruti Chakravarthi and Ashok Murthy have researched and put together a fun list of games.  Also, there will be plenty of games for the" young at heart" such as "tug of war", marble and spoon, three legged race, lagori  and traditional

Kannada games like Ala Gooli Mane, Pagade, Bugari will also be available.

  

We request your participation in making our first event a success.

  

How can a picnic be complete without Cricket and Volley Ball?  We request members who have equipment for these games to bring it to the picnic.

  

Following the games, lunch will be served, at noon.  We have pulled together a delicious and healthy choice of foods that will cater to the tastes and palettes of our diverse membership.  Water and juice will be available.

  

Following lunch, organized games will continue.  For members who prefer to rest on the shady banks of Rideau River and be serenaded by the lovely and hidden talents of KSO members, we have organized "antakshari". Please dust off your old song books and be prepared.

  

Also, we will be very happy to collect membership dues at the picnic from unpaid  members. If you have not comfirmed your participation, please let us know by July 15.
