Why record your calls?

Below are some of the common reasons our users run Veritape. If you work for a business, you may be interested in reading some of the business case studies we have on our Business Users page.

To remember the contents of a call
The most common reason for recording telephone conversations is so that you can accurately remember what was said.

This means:
You don't have to try to take notes during the call (which can ruin your train of thought)
You won't get hopelessly lost again because you missed out some steps in the directions you were given
There'll be no more confusion over specifications or quantities of orders

To share the contents of a call
Once you've recorded a call you can keep it on your computer to play to others, or email it to them.
Having negotiated a deal on the phone, email the call to them so that both sides agree on what was said
Ever been given great family news by phone? Keep it to play to the rest of the family.
Get your staff to record some calls with customers, so that you can review & improve their telephone techniques. Tape your own calls so that you can do some self-appraisal.

To provide a permanent record of a call
Ever had an important voicemail message which the phone system auto-deleted because you left it on the system for 3 days? Veritape will create a permanent copy for you - just ring your voicemail system while Veritape is recording.

To prove the contents of a call
Hopefully you won't need to do this often, but wouldn't it be great to know categorically, and to be able to prove it?
Ordering something by phone? You'll have an exact record of your order - in case it's not right when it arrives. Or in case it never arrives...
Arranging insurance? You'll have an indisputable record of what terms you agreed and when cover started.
Do you ever negotiate for anything by phone (car, house, boat etc)? You'll be able to prove what price you agreed and what other terms were discussed.

To deter unwanted calls
We hope that this is a situation you never encounter, but just warning nuisance callers that you are recording the call may provide some deterrent.
Another form of nuisance call becoming more prevalent every day is unsolicited telesales calls. In the UK, provided you have registered with the Telephone Preference Service (0845 070 0707), it is unlawful for a UK company to make an unsolicited call to you. A recording of any such call may help prove your case.

In all cases, we recommend you read our legals page (click here) prior to recording any conversations with Veritape.
