Question and Answer

Q I am planning o set up an incorporation in BC.  Can my friend who is residing in Taiwan be a director of the company?
A The majority of the director has to reside in Canada, with at least one of them living in BC.  In your case, you may want to add one person as director, or your friend becomes a shareholder rather than a director.  Call the Corporate Registry at (250) 356-8658 for more information.
Q I need computer bar code for my products, where can I get it?
A Contact the Electronic Commerce Council of Canada 1-800-567-7084.
Q When I declare commercial goods to the Customs, what documents do I need to bring along?  And, how can I make payment?
A Basically you need 2 copies of each of the followings:
  • Cargo Control Document
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Canada Customs Coding Form (B3)
  • Permits, Certificate of Origin (Form A), when necessary

You can pay by cash, certified cheque, or you may set up an account by posing a security with the Customs.
