Theme parks... the 4 biggest theme parks in Australia are located only an hour and a half south of Brisbane on the Gold Coast. Seaworld was the first to appear and is a great place to see and learn about our marine life, such as sharks, fish, penguins, seals, whales, and dolphins. There are also shows like water skiing, pirate show, and dolphin show. And we must not forget the rides- the Corkscrew (roller coaster), the Mono Rail, the merry-go-round (for little and big kids...yes you...LOL), the Pirate Ship, and more. Dreamworld was the next to be built. You can see the white tigers on Tiger Island. Splash around in the pools and on the slides. Watch Big Brother (this is where the house is, so you can watch live). And of course the rides- the Thunderbolt (roller coaster), the Tower of Terror, Wipeout, and more. Wet'n'Wild soon followed. If you like waterslides, swimming pools, flying foxes, tobboggan rides, wave pools, and more, then this is the place for you. Last, but not least, is Warner Bros. Movie World. This park has real film studios where movies like 'Mission Impossible' starring Tom Cruise have been made. This park is great for all ages. For the littlies you can visit Looney Tune Land. There are shows put on by the characters, and rides suitable for toddlers and young children. Then if you are a bit bigger, you may want to try the Batman ride. For the really big kids, you can not miss the Lethal Weapon (roller coaster). Try the studio visit and learn about special effects. Visit the Police Academy show and watch the stunts as the good guys and bad guys battle it out. Go back in time to the Wild West. And just so you can prove you have been there, get a photo in period costume. There is also a special attraction normally on display. Past examples are The riddlers Lair (actual movie set) from Batman Forever (III), and the set of Diagon Alley with real props from Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, and Scooby Doo (which has a added a brand new ride to the park). Currently showing this year (2003), is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Believe me there is more, but you will have to discover it for yourself.
